Even after 3 years, this is still my favorite read and, to me, the defining C&V thread. Keep it up!

Here is a before. I know not a great bike but cheap and fun to restore. Please don't take offense to the messy garage

Here is the after. I still needs a different seat and spend some time on the rear cassette. Royal jelly did not work very well

A young man at my work asked if I could help him with his bike. He said the shifters were messed up. All he knew was that it was a Ross.
Lots of cleaning, lubing, aligning, and cabling were done. I flipped the bars back from the DUI position and installed new bar tape. I couldn't convince him to replace that saddle.

thanks guys! I actually did it last summer (08) but most of the pics I've posted on BF over the years were lost (long story) so I'm slowly reposting things as I get them re-hosted.

Thanks for the compliments, gentlemen. That 'dayum means a lot coming from you two, as I have seen some of your work here on the C&V, which is beyond 'Dayum'....
That is an incredible makeover. Nice work!

Here's a decent before/after...it's my early 1980s Grandis Special that arrived with a clean, nicely tuned full Exage groupset. That groupset migrated onto a flipper bike and a (closer to) correct Campy components are now on the bike. The wheels are now a Shimano 600 hub set and the stem & bar are still Japanese, but it's a lot closer to correct now than it was. It's a nice bike and apparently not awfully common here in the US.

i'm enjoying it because of the memories it brings back of racing on a Grandis frame in that exact paint/decal presentation. mine was all Campy Nuovo Record, the standard setup, with high flange hubs, and Mavic sew up rims, yellow housing and yellow cloth tape, and a white Turbo saddle
