The "Before And After" Thread
#1555
Got the Club Fuji all washed up, and put the stock style drillium Dia Compe brake levers back on it, with new housing for the rear. I was being frugal, so I cut the rear for the front, and bought a new long piece for the rear. It had aero levers before, and the housing came up short. I also put on the new to me $5 Nitto stem(after a bead blast and polish) and changed the bars to Road Champions from the Sakae Modolo patent ergo bars. The wrap has been on it for a year or two, and I rewrapped it. When I find some yellow bike ribbon, I will wrap it over. This lizards skinz is odd feeling, but looks better than cork for the application, and is easier to keep clean.,,,,BD
Funny, pics of this bike STILL do not show the extent of rust around the lugs, etc. Got the paint, just waiting for velocals to come through with a decal set before I repaint. Also weird how this bike has such a long head tube for the size. The brake clearance with these 25's is almost nil, and the fork crown also has low clearance. The bike is around a 59/60, but the head tube makes it look like a 63 or larger, because the fork crown makes the down tube lower than "normal".

Better pics to come (lighting wasn't good; had just enough time for a quick shakedown ride before sunset)...I think I need to trim my cables as well...

Will, that 88 Benotto Triathlon came out great looking, like the painted flutes on the seat post.
I wanted to show a before & after picture of a project I did last Christmas & gave to my boss to display in our shop but had lost my photos on a bad drive, after a lot of work I found and recovered them & while not a bicycle it is bicycle related. It's a old HTK ( Tanaka ) wheel truing stand that a dear friend of mine bought new and used many years building wheels in the 70's & 80's before retiring & then giving it to me. I was really happy with the way it turned out and it is still fully functional.

(almost) All original 1980 Raleigh Comp GS as purchased from original owner:

After full overhaul and slightly stylized for my needs:

Got the right Nuovo Gran Sport rear derailleur and retrofitted it with Record pulley cages and aluminum bearing jockey wheels.
Original wheels are still in cleanup mode...those Weinmann concaves are a PITA to polish.

I almost bought this a month before you posted your WTB ad (which is now gone for some reason?)

Wish I had now, I'd have sold it to ya.
