Bikes: to many to list
I hate each and every one of you!

'92 Waterford Paramount OS w/ full Dura Ace in the original "Blue Velvet Gas" which literally changes color between the indoor/artificial lighting and becomes brilliant semi-transparent/blue gaseous in natural sunlight (Hey Dr D, is that a candy-coat thing?) I discussed this bike w/ Scooper before purchasing and am so happy that I listened to him and purchased it. It's the most refined cycle I've ever owned, period. I did however change out the high-tech pedals for my trusty Campy w/ clips because I can't stand newer pedal technology

Both pictured I purchased from the original owner for a song. He actually came up to me while I was getting ready for a ride and said he had some big Paramounts he wanted to sell. My Luckiest day ever!!!!

This isn't mine, but I find this is one of my favorite P14 I have seen and it has a great story to go with it.

Read the story on his FGG submission

I'm no painter but it sounds like Mystic, a special paint Ford used on a few '95 Thunderbirds and a couple years on Mustang Cobras. It's very expensive and thus very rare. I found reference that whenever a Cobra needs repainting a representative from Ford brings the special Dupont paint to the Dealer body shop and waits until the car is finished, then takes the leftover paint back with him. Other makes of cars also use a color-shifting paint, but Ford protects it's particular blend for exclusivity's sake, though the Chameleon blue Mystic Thunderbird paint looks very similar to your bike. Cool stuff!
"several thousand dollars" - enough to raise the total cost for that car an additional 20%.

There you go Dr. D. ~ Figure out the formula or the concept and nobody will EVER let you rest.
I'm so tired of seeing so many gaudy paint jobs and massive billboards full of logos plastered onto so many bikes since the late 1980s, I find that I'm now becoming drawn to very simple and basic colors - such as the simple light blue Paramount someone had posted earlier.

I have seen several cars with that custom paint in this area. The one body man I know said the paint runs about $1500.00 a gallon. That is not a mistype. Lesser amounts were about $700 a quart. A bike would cost a lot to paint will that. He also said it is impossible repair and scratches require a complete repaint. He told me he had done one street rod with it and the paint job was almost $8000 by the time it was finished. Roger

McDave and Stronglight,
I tried to get you guys a few photos when I came home during my lunch hour to illustrate the color change, but the camera doesn't pick it up well; today is not very nice/sunny weather here. The finest job I've ever seen of somebody capturing it was this classic, and the photo doesn't do that bike justice:

(This is a PARAMOUNT thread, so I thought I'd mention that the complete First Flight link is fascinating if you like Buell motorcycles or Paramount/MTB tech/history: https://www.firstflightbikes.com/1992_Schwinn_SASS.htm )
And without bright sun, I can't capture it. It looks completely different in person than on these photos- My camera isn't good enough to capture the color angles...
