Gian Robert "Competition" derailleur.
I just saw a bike with this dérailleur and I 'm curious as to it's quality. I saw the info on CR, but it has no info regarding the "Competition". Do you guys know or seen it before? Any info is appreciated. I shall post pics tomorrow of it. It looks pretty nice for what it's worth.

I've never heard of such a thing.
I bought a used bronze Record in the 80's for $10 because I couldn't afford a Nuovo Record at the time. I ended up making a killing on that derailer last year by selling it to a Japanese collector. I wish all of my investments would do that well.

That's good to hear. Well, I have the derailleur since I ended buying the bike it was on. It's an early sweet F.Moser. I've only seen the "Competition" seat post that's on CR and it looks like a SR. I'll post pics in a few.

All I know is that they were Italian, not very common and probably no relation to Simplex. Have a look at this: https://www.classicrendezvous.com/Ita...obert_main.htm
OOPS! Just realized you mentioned the above (CR) in original post.

Lesser quality parts like Gian Robert are indeed less common because they aren't valued and kept. They aren't better quality than Campy, just less common. If you already have vintage bike(s) set up with Campy parts, you might find it fun to set up one up with vintage Italian non-Campy parts like Gian Robert, Ofmega, Gipiemme, etc. I'm doing that right now..........Peter

My daughter likes to take pictures of Azul (our dog) in front of anything. She took the pic while on my shoulders. Not bad for a soon to be three year old.
