Looks like a lower end model by the seat stay treatment... though the cotterless crank spindle says better quality. What's the bottom bracket brand?

If it had Capella headlugs, I would say Catalina, but not correct there. The balance is similar. Catalinas had 531 straight ga. tube throughout. The BB I bet is not original, Campag was fitted to the tip top racing models, this is not. probably designed for 27" wheels. If the Dunlop high pressure steel rims, they command a fairly high price themselves.

Whats wrong with the seat stays ? That wrap around look was a feature of Carlton frames at the time as was the curved brake cable bridge. It looks quality to me!

Great that you saved the bike over the years! Those are some pretty rare and valuable components. You might easily be able to finance all the Nuovo Record components you could possibly want with the sale of what you have there.
Hope you still have the left crank arm. People are always looking for the pre-67ish Campy cranksets. They had a bolt circle of 151 mm, and (like it or not) the smallest chainring was 44 teeth, which does force you into rather high gearing. But a Nuovo Record crankset would still keep the smallest ring at 42 teeth anyway, so not much difference really. If those are the Campy pedals on the crank in your photo, those would also appear to be a very rare version as well. And, the Gran Sport derailleur seems to be in very nice shape.
The Weinmann tubular rim looks pretty uncommon. No spoke eyelets, so I may actually have wood inserts inside the alloy shell. The GB stems are always nice and are becoming harder to find these days.
The original paint colors you described sound a lot like the 1969 Raleigh Professional. Raleigh owned Carlton Cycles during the 1960s, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was where they "borrowed" the idea for the color scheme on the Pro.
Could make a nice re-paint for the Carlton too... [hint, hint]

Just judging by the later Raleighs. All the better Carltons I've had have had the typical wraparound seatstays. But I could be wrong judging from parts that came on it. Lugs actually look like the Flyer frame I got on ebay. Here's a Flyer ad, though they seem to have Campagnolo dropouts, and the 1966 Flyer frame I got on ebay; decals from Lloyds:
