1998 Specialized Allez Carbon

Not sure if this is in the correct forum, but I know some of you might be familiar with this issue...

I have the opportunity to buy a 1998 Specialized Allez in a lugged carbon frame. I've tried doing my research and note that some of these bikes had debonding issues when they first came out. Does anyone know the details about this specific model? Was the problem corrected by the 1998 model? Was it specific to only certain bike companies? And is it possible to evaluate the bike for integrity of the frame, or is it one of those hidden danger scenarios where I wouldn't know until catastrophic failure?

I think they upgraded that bad bottom bracket in the early nineties. The replacement was darker grey in color.

By the way, I'm a clyde. at 250# and have about 2500 miles on my used (bought in 2003) 94' CF trek. No problem yet...

I think you mean 1988. Specialized stopped building lugged carbon fiber Allezs around '94 or '95.
