Heres a rare one. Paramount three speed in a tall frame. I dont think i have ever seen one of these other than in an old print ad. Check it out. Put in a bid?

Maybe the semi-literate text and all caps?

I didnt even notice the text from the seller. Who cares? The bike is what I am looking at. I hear so many languages these days, that sort of writing doesnt bother me or lead me to believe something is fishy. Dont be so quick to judge.

Im sorry but I really hate it when memebers get on people about punctuation, its like their lives are so goddamn boring that they have to mess with people about the way they spell
anyways, It looks like that bike was painted with a brush!? and those pinstripes are kinda sloppy, I know of some guys working out of whats basically a shack that'll take a Schwinn and make it look almost orig! and they do it all by hand! ( and they dont complain about punctuation!)

I don't see anybody really complaining just about punctuation (though I do think the decline of English language skills is a sure sign of doom on the horizon, and worthy of concern). The copy in that listing just reads like a 419 email from Nigeria, and people here are justly sensitive to signs of ebay scams. If you look back through that guy's "feedback left for others," though, you can see that his vocabulary and English skills have actually grown considerably over the years. Also, his most recent transaction was the purchase of a Toyota that he picked up in person in NY. So, I suspect he's just an enterprising, fairly recent immigrant, not a true scammer by my definition.

Paramounts with three speed hubs are uncommon in any frame size though they were offered from the late 1930s until the mid-1960s. There is a photo of one in the Pridmore & Hurd Schwinn book (the precise title escapes me at the moment) that is described as Frank Schwinns personal Paramount. I have to agree with the OP that this has to be about the coolest three speed made.
This particular bike was listed 2 or more years ago, that time with a reserve which was not met. I dont remember what the high bid was but am pretty certain that it was well below the current minimum bid. I had some question, at the time, as to where the bike actually was since the seller was shown as registered in Rumania (I think?) but the location was shown as Connecticut. I asked him to clarify that and he responded promptly and politely. I wouldnt be too critical of his English as it is most certainly not his first language.
It will be interesting to see if it sells this time around. My guess is that the $1,400 starting bid is too high. While thee speed Paramounts are uncommon, there doesnt seem to be a very big market for them either.
Regards,
Alan

I cannot tell from the photos whether it has a derailleur hanging tab.

I have seen Paramount 3 speeds in old catalogs, and if I had a 3 speed I'd want it to be a Paramount! That chrome rear triangle looks great on a 3 speed. When I was about 11, I painted the fork tips and rear triangle on my JC Higgins with silver paint. If I couldn't have the real thing.....

One thing that stands out immediately is that in 1963 the down tube decal had the "Disneyland" Paramount script, not the decal shown in the photos. The P11 "Tourist" was available in 1963 with a 3-speed hub. In 1964, the P11 Tourist was a 10-speed derailleur equipped bike with tourist handlebars.
Marty's right; I see a red flag too.

This is cool, but MY schwinn 3 speed is much, much, cooler. A '68 Run-A-Bout with the three speed Stik Shift that I bought last year for 12 dollars. I also have a Legnano 3 speed that is also drenched in cool.

My fault is that I was "raised" by English and Speech majors

I'd call that an asset rather than a fault or a liability.
On the Cessna Pilots Association forums we have a college professor who (whom?) we have nicknamed "Dr. Spellchick" since she always corrects poor spelling and grammer in others' posts. She keeps us on our toes.

Don't worry, collegiate level remedial writing classes found their genesis at Harvard, no less, in the late 1800s. However, I suppose an argument can be made that a good number of Harvard grads have done their best to destroy our collective welfare.

Most of the people I work with on a daily basis are field guys and any form of written word is not their strongest trait. But I guess that is what they hired me for
