I just got a call from PayPal...
... and there are sending me a $50 gift certificate to be used on any ebay auction.

Did you give out any personal info? I'd be skeptical just because it's much easier (and cheaper) for them to e-mail you a coupon/gift certificate code than to call you and physically mail something.

Yeah, why didn't they just credit your Paypal account? Just be careful that in order to collect on it you're not duped into entering sensitive information.

No information given. They just called to tell me that they love me. 
Just "we are giving you $50 and are sending you an email with a redemption code."
That was it. But I am also a bit skeptical, I keep this updated when I "win" something off of ebay.

I got one, but ignored it. I just don't trust anything of this type, cynical? Yes, for $10, or even $50. getting hacked or hijacked is just too much bother and risk.
ebay has not met expectations lately, the recession has hit perhaps and they raised fees I am told for sellers and the "options". Also, they have modified categories a bit when I last looked, Cycling comes under sporting goods, outdoors... I guess they never heard of an indoor velodrome.
So it goes.
