Raleigh LTD 3 speed

Hey there,

New on this board. Looks like it is well attended. I am enjoying the vintage photos already.

I picked up a Raleigh LTD 3 last week and have been cleaning it up with my son. I cannot find a serial number on it. Can anyone tell me where to look?

I did find markings on the rims- Sturmey Archer, just like the hub.

The Sturmey Archer rear hub will be your best source to figure out the date of the bike. What's it say?

Bikes: Some of the bikes I've collected: Raleighs ( about 20), Trek ( oldest 1978 770 Columbus tubes), Mercian, Condor, Bob Jackson, Falcon, Holdsworth, Jacques Anquetil, Bianchi, LeMond, Cannondale, Schwinn, Iver Johnson, Dunelt

This is a LTD 3 I found recently. The SN is on back side of the seat tube near top.
This one is 1974

Found it on the post as you said. It starts with NC4 and the hub says 74 2, Both of which indicates it is a 74 year model- I suppose.
It is a nice riding bike, still with original Raleigh tires that are not cracked. Still it is not as smooth as my Dutch Atlas 3 speed.

Does it have the "Made in Malaysia" sticker at the bottom of the seat tube just above the bottom bracket?
