new member, new rides.
Hey all,
Did the intro thing on the main page, but seeing as how my interests at this stage in my bicycle lust seem to mingle with the past, I figured this would most likely be my interest group.
Currently I ride a '76 Motobecane Grand touring WIP SS. I'm still searching for a few parts and honestly still on the fence about which direction I want to go...time will tell. In the mean time though I love riding it and get lots of compliments when I'm out and about.
I recently picked up some neat (and not so neat) machines and am in the process of parting some of them out, donating some others and keeping a few for myself. Some notables are a 1959 Norman 3 speed, 1987 Lotus Mixte (for the S.O.) and a 1960's Murray 3 speed. I picked up an old early 70's lugged "Galaxy" mystery frame, several Murray 10 speeds, and some misc no name mountain bikes. The only bikes really worth investing any time in are the Lotus and Norman, the Galaxy will most likely be a ghetto blasting Fixed gear and the Murray 3 speed will go on craigslist... the rest will become my stock of parts.
Looking forward to becoming a part of this community...

Convert the mixte to an upright cruiser and someone will love you for it, They make the best city bikes.

Bikes: 1959 Capo Modell Campagnolo; 1960 Capo Sieger (2); 1962 Carlton Franco Suisse; 1970 Peugeot UO-8; 1982 Bianchi Campione d'Italia; 1988 Schwinn Project KOM-10;
Stick a rear brake, a longer chain, and a couple of derailleurs and barcons on that Moto, and you will have a great bike.

but I do have a plan! I'm a minimalist in many things and I just love the look of a clean clean machine so I'm going to stick it out with the SS conversion and single front brake on some wrapped alum Pivo pars (if I can ever find them.) I'm by no means a purist when it comes to things and prefer to personalize things...If I upset somebody please don't send the mob after me.
Now the norman is the one thats bugging me, Do I completely restore it, or just get it ridable and become one with the rust...
life is so hard

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.
Thats the plan in my head, She might have something to say about that though as she likes the look of the drop bars... things change though and with a few rides she might want to start changing things up. My number one priority is to give her a bike that she feels comfortable on.
