It is for sale and I put obo or trade instead of a price on craigslist. Hopefully that will entice someone to buy it.

Your ad on Craigs List truly sucks.
First you state you know what the bike is worth, so no lowballing.
So why do you not list a selling price?
Jeez.

Because the bike is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. By no lowballing I just mean that I am not gonna let it go for like 200 bucks. I am not going to put a price on something that really depends on how much an enthusiast/ collector will pay for it. I just want people to basically make me an offer over 500 or for a MTB trade of equal value to this bike. What else sucks about my add? I thought it was fine...I will take your ideas into consideration.

Alright I fixed it and put 500 or more as the price or I said I would trade for a Mountain bike of equal or greater value. That way everyone is happy and it's a damn good price for this bike I think. Little bit of elbow grease and a couple of new things should make it work over a grand.

I wouldn't pay $200 for it if I could just take it across the fence from the neigbor next door, but ... I also wouldn't give my opinion of value much weight ... I gave away two far more interesting (to me) bikes (and a frame), over the years ... for nothing. I've got a box of what are now antique components that I'm sure would be valuable to someone if I had the inclination to invest the time to find him or her. Good luck.
P.S., I've sold two bikes over the web since 2001 and in both instances, I stated my price.

P.S. OP: if you want people to bid on a bike, put it on an auction site -- that's what they're there for.

Hey guys - that is the frame from the yellow bike that is on ebay~! I sold the complete bike to a cool guy from brooklyn who restores bikes and was going to use the components on something else. He said he was going to eventually ebay the frame. I am glad he got everything off and that the frame has no structural damage. The red Terry bike is actually being used by my brother right now (he's short) I rode it the other day and I must say that after 2 nerw tires and a full tune up the damn thing rides like it was brand new. He loves it and rides 4-5 miles a day on it. I would have kept the yellow one and fixed it up myself but it was made for a 6'3 rider and I am 5'10 so it would have never worked out.
You guys who posted the previous 2 posts take yourselves way too seriously. The guy who bought the bike from me even referred to this forum in a very negative way and he is big part of the vintage scene in NYC. I am heavily involved in several car clubs and we don't even take ourselves that seriously when we sell stuff. I wound up selling the yellow bike for a fraction of its "worth," as you like to call it, and it made me feel good that someone got it who could appreciate the parts and sell the frame correctly. Calm down.

Which may be under $200.
Then the bike is worth whatever you're willing to part with it for, not what someone is willing to pay for it.
Yet, you put a definite price range on it below.
If it was so easy to say here...what is so difficult about slapping a $600 price tag on it with a note "will trade for high-end MTB."

Does this forum take itself too seriously? no, although some other venues might.
