cherubim / 3Rensho

I may have mis posted this earlier. I am trying to get a feel for the value of my bike. I was told that it might have just become a collect able. It is a Cherubim pre 3Rensho, hand built by Hitoshi Konno, with all Shimano 60 parts. It is in great shape but has been stored and needs new rubber. I was told that the frame is the value. Thank you I can send pics if that would help

I thought the guy that built those bikes was Yoshi Konno, or were there multiple people building bikes under the Cherubim name? The bike is definitely valuable and a collectible. Please post pictures, it would be great to see it. The bike is more valuable if it has all of its original components.

Yoshi Konno's brother ran a shop named Cherubium which is where the name came from, I believe. I'm not sure if he even wielded the torch though. That said, anything Y. Konno touched is of some value in the C&V market. Just how much though is debatable. My guess would be that the track frames are probably more sought after due to the feeding frenzy and inflation of the last few years. The track frames were fetching between $750-$1200 on the various NJS blogs. I feel like I've seen various complete 3Rensho road bikes in excellent condition sell for around $1000.

Are you seeking this value for insurance purposes? Sale purposes (if so, what venue)? Satisfaction purposes? Each differs.

I would like to sell it but I want to be fair and also not short myself. I am not out to get the highest bidder just a good price.

The strange thing about very rare and unique items like you have is that the price is hard to set based on past sales history.. Considering that the components are worth practically nothing, 2500.00 for that bike is a great price and I would jump all over it..

You don't "upload" photos to this site.. you upload them elsewhere and link to them..

www.tinypic.com

Is a free and easy to use site for uploading photos -- AND it has a size selection tool -- so you won't end up with HUGE photos (use the "message board" size).

Use the "Url" of each one and go to "advanced" when you post -- there will be a button to click to add an image.

Sell to the shop ASAP. Even if there is the remote possibility you can get more on eBay, the effort will not be worth your while. Go the easy route and get the cash.

Will be looking forward to the news of your sale.

I have sent Velobase.com an email to see what they think. At first I was just trying to sell some unused items to get my wife and daughter matching bikes ($850 ea) and thought the bike could get a few bucks. Things are looking up. I am sure that the dealer is under the impression the it is 3Rensho. I hate to break his heart.
