Did Nitto ever....
Make unbranded stems for companies? In the 70's? If so how do you tell it is a Nitto?

I had a Specialized stem awhile back. It was plainly obvious by the finish and quality that is was nicely made so I checked closer and lo and behold........ It said Nitto by the max insertion line.
