old bike id
Hi i have an old road bike. Im trying to identify it to see if it is worth restoring or is it junk. it looks like the bike has been painted a few times, and there is no nameplate or any other identification except the serial number . it looks to be "b129088" and is stamped on the bottom of the BB. Description is as follows: Nicely lugged frame with lugged aluminum fork it looks like the downtube and seattube are aluminum and the rear fork and top tube are steel?; SR Aluminum crank arms, stem, handlebars; Thunderbird deraillers; SIW Japan rear hub. Any help anyone? Thanks

You will need to post lots of pics in order for people to come even moderately close to identifiy a bike like this. Also, I doubt that aluminum tubes are mixed with steel ones, that just does not work well. Check with a magnet.

I think I found out a little bit more on the bike. It has characteristics of a 70's Sekine. It has the same crank setup as a sekine(Aluminum SR arms w/ 75.7 stamped on them), The frame is all steel possibly Chromoly lugged. The brakes are aluminum Diacompe w/ safety lever type, Aluminum Handlebars& stem (SR ). I was wrong about the serial number. It looks like a squarish "D" and then 129088 stamped on bottom of BB.
