Not another bike!!! This woman has a problem. Do we need to confront her and do an intervention? Get yourself down to the CA (Cyclist Anonymous) meeting.

So--- what did she think of your "Man Room?" And did she bring Mr East Hill for his opinion?

Hey, no intervention necessary for this one. This is a beautiful little Atala, apparently custom built for the rider.

I didn't get to stop by stringbreaker's--it was getting late (for me), and I have a nasty cold which is causing me to do a considerable amount of hacking and coughing.

No photos yet...the tyres were completely rotted out, and so I picked up some nice Vittoria Rubinos as replacements. However, I still haven't gotten the first tyre seated properly, so it may take me a few days to show 'er off .

Many thanks to Kelly for letting me in on the secret .

We all have to remember this next time we buy a bike, but can't get the pics for a few days and East Hill sends the usual "Must have Pics".
East Hill, you KNEW I wasn't going to let that one slide, didn't ya?

Absolutely!

Seriously, I am having a terrible time getting the Rubinos to seat properly. I've taken them off the rim three times already, and still haven't gotten it right. They go on easily enough, but I can see that the area around the valve stem is not seated properly.

No, but I am the BAD MOD .

I am looking forward to painting the Bianchi in a suitably wild paint scheme .

EH we weren't home anyway. We probably passed you while you were driving we were on the foothills trail to South Prairie. I got some nasty pain in both my Achilles tendons for some reason. Spent the evening with ice packs on them. Oh yeah about that man room, I found the poster of the guys lighting up the smokes from the TDF so its on the way here to me and will be hung when I get it.

Next time you deaccession give me a heads-up. My wife is starting to ride more and needs a better bike. I think you are the same size ...

Bikes: Crap. The box is not big enough...

on the subject of seating beads...I dunno, but whenever I have a problem seating the bead at the valve stem, it is because the tire bead is on top of the tube right at the valve stem patch. While the tire is completely deflated, push the valve stem in as far as you can get it to go. This will move the tube in past the bead. Inflating will go much better.

We really need to see pictures...

I can do that! I would be happy to share .

I am really dumb--why didn't I think of that? Thanks, I will try that--it should work.

Here are photos:

^^^
It looks a wreck, here, eh?

Some rust on the fork crown.

It's got nice lugs.

Most of the decals are gone.

There's a decal proclaiming the bike to be outfitted with Campy Record Components, and it has Campagnolo decals, too. Unfortunately, the original owner appears to have taken the Campy components off a long time ago. It does have Columbus tubing.

The paint is a bit faded on one side. Apparently the original owner threw it in a shed years ago, and could not bring herself to get rid of it. Eventually she decided that it had to go.

I like it. It's time for you to charm some blaster/powder coater into a deal on that and the Bianchi, and you'll have a sweet pair of frames, then go for what you can get on 'em.

I'm still mulling that over.

I think I am going to try polishing the Atala and see if I can't get the paint job to come back to life. I really hate to get rid of all the decals remaining.

I'm going to see if I can't get better photos tomorrow, and show all the decals.

I know a killer powdercoat guy. JR can reproduce the decals for you. He did some nice Volare items for me. (which I haven't applied yet) still trying to make up my mind whether to get the thing done or leave it chrome.

I'd have to find all the decals, though!

Seriously, there are decals everywhere on this thing.

And they are BIG decals, not tiny little things.

More photos tomorrow, after I get home from work.

Note though that the downtube decal also proclaims Gian Robert components. Interesting.

It also refers to a library removing books or other materials from its collection. The staff members responsible for acquiring new materials for a library usually are known as the Accessions Department.

(Yes, I'm a former librarian. I was in charge of the Cataloging Department, but we all worked together on accessions/deaccessions.)
