Congratulations
This thread is a real jewel. Tough problem, lots of expertise, constructive comments, minimal number of cute remarks, no naked women photos posted, and success at the end. Maybe I've been reading too many motorcycle forums lately, but Bike Forums shines as a great community of people genuinely interested and informed about bikes. Continue on my friends.
BTW I was empressed with my success in doing a direct exchange of old Tiagra shifters to new Tiagra shifters on my wife's Volpe. It worked with first time adjustments and I pretended that I was an expert. Fat chance. Tom

I promised updated pictures before the weekend was half over, so here we go. I've yet to ride it. We had a high of 24F yesterday and about 17F today and the winds gusting to around 30mph, so I've been indoors futzing around with a dump find Marin Muir Woods.
So I guess we could say my '83 Paramount is Campagminano equipped with it's Centaur RD and Calipers and Sora FD and Brifters. Oh well, the best laid plans!

Bob, what photo editing program are you using? The first and third pictures are very nice, but are suffering from some rather distinct .JPG compression - I assume the program is adjusting this automatically, as opposed to allowing you to manually adjust it.
-Kurt
P.S.: The irfanview.com editor works quite nicely as a free utility, and allows you to adjust compression to your specifications.

I had set the camera to a lower resolution, so these are unedited, just transferred from card to computer to photobucket to BF. I realized my focus is not as good in some of these shots. It was cold and windy so I was in a hurry. You probably would not have stepped outside if you had been here.
How's this one of the seattube decal? It captured the metal flake in the black paint.

The sun was shinning! The snow had stopped! Temperature was a pleasant 35F!
So I could finally take the '83 Paramount on a road test. Shifting was marvelous. Both the triple crankset and the 7 speed freewheel shifted flawlessly with the Sora brifters. Who says you can't mix Campagnolo, Shimano, and Suntour on a Schwinn and make it work?
I have to admit, this early Waterford Paramount is certainly a sweet ride!
Once again, thanks for everyone's help and especially to mrmw who passed this Paramount along to me last February.
