frame identification
Characteristics:
- frame pump "hooks" under top tube
- fronts lugs have "M" or "W" cut through them
- NO hanger for rear derailleur
- has some sort of bracket under the down tube, perhaps for shifter cables.
- Has a kickstand mount
- a mount for a light(?) on the seat stay
- cannot find serial number anywhere, only some numbers on the lugs.
I could have pictures up tonight. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Other than to say it looks British to me, I haven't got a clue.
That said, why not give it some time so folks can actually read the thread
and look at the pics. It's usually fairly quiet here in the morning (US time).

the BB seems to have FRENCH threading. according to Sheldon brown's info on differences between english and french frames, all measurements indicate this frame to be a FRENCH FRAME.
i contacted Kirk from bikelugs.com and he's informed me that it should be a french frame from the 70s possibly by motobecane.
could anyone tell me when the touring boom began in france and then in america?

you read my mind...I meant the small eyelets on the downtube...shouldn't mix wine and internet forums, I suppose. I haven't ever seen this detail before.

Definitely French details and fittings. Not a Peugeot. I don't think it's a Motobecane, either, but I don't know all the lower end Motobecanes. Should be a nice bike, though, when put together. All the braze-ons are cool.
