I took out the 5 S'r (Schwann Super Sport single speed) for my last ride of the weekend. Cycling for pleasure, not penance (or so I thought until I had to push into the wind to get home). A mix of paved, gravel, and trail. Very relaxing and the experiment with the new bars was a success.

Actually, I misspoke, I did see something interesting. At that intersection where I noticed the snow, I took a left, rode along Dangelo Dr, until I came to closed gates, a security operation, and "No, you can't go any further."
(There were two guards.)
MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map
(Well that didn't work so well, but you can get 'here' just search "Dangelo Dr, Northborogh")
The guard shack was just below Saint Martin Dr. If you continue across the bridge (dragging the map, should there be any question), there's quite an operation on the other side. The curious thing is that it looks like there's a trail which would access it from the other direction, tho that may well be closed off as well. The satellite view on Strava appears more up to date; I believe there's now a large solar panel set up to the right of the building where this link shows empty space.

I did my October century on Saturday. I was tempted to do the PA Randonneurs ride, but the start point is about 40 miles from my house, so it would have ended up being a 200 mile ride and I wasn't up for that.
I rode up the Delaware Canal Park, which follows the PA side of the Delaware River, from Washington Crossing to somewhere north of Riegelsville. The whole thing is in pretty excellent condition right now. Here's the canal on the left, the river on the right:

An old lock on the canal: (most of the lock hardware is gone, but this one is pretty intact)

In several places the canal runs a considerable distance from the river. Here the path is just a single track, but still a great place to ride:

Flarze:

I saw three kingfishers, and three blue heron. One of the heron is in this photo, but I doubt you'll be able to find her:

and I think there was a kingfisher in this photo, but I can't find her either:

It cooled off as the day progressed, but at least I had a tailwind on the way home.
it was a pretty flat ride, about 4,000 feet of climbing, a little over 100 miles, between seven and eight hours of riding.

Thanks all! Vonruden & Sir-name, if you guys would like to do one on the spring (150/200k) there are some that are not as focused on the hills. Let me know. You are welcome to use my place as a staging are.
That offer goes to you too Jim but you are a lot father north. You could however, bring the tandem. Think of all of the Amish pies and produce you could pick up along the way!

I was hoping to post a few pics from weekend rides, but am instead attempting to work my laptop through an existential crisis it seems to be having...

Windy with a chill. I enjoyed a good coffee just past the archway/patio above.

@BluesDaddy, along with my buddy Paul, met for a NH fall foliage ride yesterday afternoon. After a weekend of sleet, snow, and temps in the low 20Fs, the mid 50Fs and sunny skies were most welcome. While it was a short 23 miles, it included 2200 feet of climbing. The first 6 miles climbed from 800 to 1850 feet!
However we were rewarded with fantastic views into VT some 40-50 miles away.

L-R: BluesDaddy, Paul, Pastor Bob

Did I mention that about half of the ride was on dirt roads? It was a challenge because one long section was in the process of being graded and the freeze over the weekend created a mini fall "mud season" day!

How's the color this year? Went from green to brown in Chicago. No nice orange, reds, or yellows.

We had a beautiful and spectacular color season here in the mountains of west-central NH. The peak was over Columbus Day weekend, so we are now past the prime.

Just another 'Interval' day for me: Bike Ride Profile | Morning Ride near Hopkinton | Times and Records | Strava
No pictures. I ventured out of the loop just once, heading up to Rt 495 during the 5-minute rest between intervals. I was proceeding slowly, when I was passed by a woperson going only slightly less slowly on her plastic fantastic - she did not respond to my friendly 'Hi', and after almost failing, I resisted blowing her off and returned to my regularly scheduled programming, 5 sets of 4 intervals, 30 seconds flat out, 30 seconds recovery, with 5 minutes off between.
No, I did not venture outside the Huckleberry loop again, for fear of further temptations, until time to ride back home.
The colors are lovely, but our sugar maple hasn't peaked yet.

Great photos folks. I live vicariously through you as I wait "impatiently" to heal from this dog bite. The calf is doing well but the front injury that was the deepest is stubborn. Tried to hop on the Klein mtb just to ride down to the mailbox yesterday and just couldn't do as there's not enough flexibility in the ankle yet. Missed out on a week of great riding with temps in the mid-60's still. They will start to drop next week.

I just rode my commute again, like every other day this week.
Truth be told, I don't have to ride anywhere to enjoy great riding places. I just browse through this thread!

Wow, lots of fantastic pics / rides, especially rhm and ebh's...must be something with those 3 letter handles. All of my recent rides have been dark afterwork rides....maybe a sunrise pic tomorrow.

The photos in here are absolutely stunning. Do any of you ride with a camera or are these taken on phones?
I had thought about trying to carry one, but it's so bulky. Just curious how you do it.

Some of ours are taken by my sweetie with her eye-phone. The rest are taken with a P&S, nowadays a Nikon Coolpix or sometimes a Sony something-or-other-with-too-many-digits-in-the-name.
(It's call an eye-phone because people spend more time looking at them than they do listening to them.)

Wrap a bungy cord around my midsection hooking the two ends together, holding the camera in place.
Works well.

Whoa! Very inventive. Maybe I will take my backpack with me one of these days and get some better shots. In the meantime please bear with my phone camera.
Today I rode the river trail across the city to downtown Okc. Total of 36 windy miles with temps in the mid 50s.

I took my Super Course and went out on the Milford Bike Trail. Rode to the Hopkinton end, then turned around an rode to the Holliston end and then home. About 18 miles. It was cold, but still a nice ride. Pretty much had the trail to myself, not many people out today.
