It was -- at least the French Quarter. So many neat machines. Some cool cars, too.
It was surreal. It would be really tough to pick a favorite... The chrome bike in the background of the top pic is a '47 Herse that would fit. The Charrel below had some really cool details; internal routing F&R, sealed hubs, desmodromic shifting, a beautiful twin-plate fork crown that I really wish I had a close-up of, beautiful paint...etc.
Kept coming back to this one, too:
I think if I had to pick, it would be a Weigle to my specs.

A very dirty bike after the Filthy Fifty today in and around Stewartville MN. Tried using 28c S4000 tires on a road bike, and it was pretty much a success. Only on one downhill did I slide way out of my intended line, but the speed on the more packed in roads made up for the decrease in cornering.

Nice pics, large or small. Nice sunset, PS.
We managed 50.93 miles on ye ol' classin&vintage tandem today, home in Waltham out to Carlisle and back, a route we've done various ways many times. Stopped a few times here and there, of course in Carlisle for lunch and especially at a farm stand in Concord. Cool temperatures, lots of orange trees. October is here!
First stop, Lexington Visitors Center:
Crossing the Concord River:
Stopped at Fern's in Carlisle for lunch but the bugs were too bothersome. No, not these spiders, the yellow jackets out to store away whatever food they can find before the 50 degree weather turns too cold for them to fly.
To avoid the bugs we moved across the street to Carlisle's Gleason Library, built in 1895:
Of course it wouldn't be a bike ride without a stop for veggies:

Went out on some quiet country roads after finally installing rear brakes. I no longer feel like every downhill could end in my death.

I had a free day so I drove over Snoqualmie Pass to try out a new route over by Cle Elum.
I started at Lavender Lake

@Vonruden, very nice looking Kirk, are they a custom build? Other than being larger than I could ride, it is set up perfectly for the kind of pleasure and sport riding and such, I am able to do.
It looks sweet, liking that pink colourway very much, too.
Bill
BTW, you have excellent taste in riding hats.

Thanks Greg! One of these days we will need a Sandy Hook to Island Beach state Park ride...both are really nice parks right along the Atlantic, very flat but the headwinds make up for it.

That's where I have seen the marque name before, something kept gnawing at my craw about it. Thanks for the link, I have that edition at home, going to look it over once again.

Blaine, WA to Point Roberts, WA
Thought about riding new roads with privacy (in spots) a requirement - tranquil views over saltwater bay wetlands, mixed surface for variety, fair weather, short of epic in distance. And a trip to a 'little' part of America, apart from the rest, so to speak. Point Roberts, WA USA is a little tip of land hanging barely below the 49th parallel; it is only accessable by land from Canada, and west of the lower 48s northwestern-most land exit and border crossing, at Blaine.
One reason for the trip was to reconnoiter a segment of a future ferry assisted roundtrip using the Tsawwassen BC ferries. Also to preview the immigration/custom procedures at 2 border crossings for cyclists. The short of it is that border crossings are easy, but you must dismount and present yourself, be patient returning through Blaine.
Pics below in Blaine and at Peace Arch Park

Ride a few miles (kilometers) of city roads with 6 foot shoulders out to Mud Bay and the Boundary Bay Dike Trail.
The Trail is perfect for any size tires when the conditions are dry.

You're a pretty shady looking character, Wildwood. They didn't shake you down too bad at the border?
I was wondering if cyclists just get in line to cross with the cars, or is there a foot traffic lane they send you through?
