This thread is hard to keep up with because of so many wonderful photographers and cyclists!
Our third annual Memorial Day ride up Going to the Sun Road https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Aa...=w1139-h854-no Biking is not my daughter's only passion... She's kind of a monkey. On the way back from ice cream in West Glacier. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/lB...=w1139-h854-no Lunch at an overlook to Birdwoman Falls in the background. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/qM...=w1139-h854-no Phamily Photo at the west tunnel. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ak...=w1139-h854-no Ultimate destination - the Loop. We convinced my 8 year old to keep going by telling her she could beat her sister up to this point by age (my oldest did it by herself last year when she was 9). Two weeks later my wife and I returned with her father to summit the road. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ru...8=w641-h854-no Looking up a draw most of the way up the road. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/re...=w1139-h854-no Logan creek, the beginning of 12 miles of 6% grade. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/yu...=w1316-h285-no Panorama from the top looking east (that side of the road is currently closed to construction). A test ride of my recent dirt drop conversion up a very close park that overlooks our town (my house is the little speck in the middle of the the green in the very middle of the shot ;)) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Fi...Y=w641-h854-no |
GREAT Photos, mountaindave!

Yeah, great pictures mountaindave. I need to get back there again wth my family.
I got out for a couple rides over the weekend. Saturday for 40 miles around Snohomish. I felt kinda like this little guy for the first few miles http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...83BB042018.jpg on Sunday I rode with a bunch of fast kids for a century ride out to Big Four Mountain. It was my fastest 100.8 miles on a bike. Ever. I had a great time but the 85 degree heat along with pushing hard the whole distance took its toll on me. I had some cramping issues over the last 15 miles. overall though, a beautiful day riding with an awesome bunch of people. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...AD55975A34.jpg |
Just a loop around and through the valley, and back up the hill today.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...407C4BFF9C.jpg Check out those pedals . . http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...8A764D97C4.jpg |
I love that bike, awesome.
Here's my only picture from a 40-mile there-and-back, from south Spokane to Nine Mile Falls and back: http://i.imgur.com/75mW16E.jpg |
What is that interesting bike, a Roger?
And you, sir, have a fine Allez Epic! |

S_N, nice pics. That looks remarkably like New England. Oh wait, Connecticut is part of New England.
My commute today was 36 miles, a bit longer than normal. Had to drop a car off for service. Plus a golf course I ride near is holding some sort of PGA event and roads around it are closed. So I ended up doing a bit of a detour. Fun day though. |

Evening ride into Snoqualmie for a bike club meeting |

VR, as usual some great pics of the Jersey shore.
My sweetie and I went for a tandem ride today from the house in Waltham to Carlisle and back, 49.3 miles with a stop at a favorite organic farm in Concord. A young barn swallow under the eaves at the farm: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...15/swallow.jpg On the way out we came upon what must have been a serious accident on the Minuteman Bikeway west of Arlington Center, police vehicle stopped, medical assistants helping some man lying prone in the street and seemingly in pain, medical rescue vehicle coming in, bikes strewn around and bikers and pedestrians watching. The MM can be a very dangerous place. The rest of the ride was uneventful almost. Lots of bikes out. Some sort of kids' activities going on in Bedford. Saw another tandem at our lunch stop at Fern's General Store. Very pretty with a red metal metal-flake swirl paint job. http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...demtandems.jpg Had a bit of a technical problem with the bike not liking to stay consistently on the smaller cogs. Well, what the...? When we got home I found this: http://world.std.com/%7Emuller/pics/...2015/chain.jpg This is a new one on me. Well, after 6000 miles on a tandem it's time for a new chain anyway! |
Another Saturday in the mountains. This time, it’s Mt. Rainier via the RATROD (Ride Around Tatoosh Range One Day) route.
We start a few miles outside the park and paceline to the Nisqually entrance to the park. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps7ijzammr.jpg Stop and regroup at Longmire http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psaj7nlunn.jpg Then back on the climb, the mountain is out in all it’s glory. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps8zzalpsq.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pseywtcqrg.jpg We have lunch at Paradise http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pspmqsfmdx.jpg |
Then we’re back on our way again http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pshb8unc60.jpg We climb over to Stevens canyon http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pswru8cx1j.jpg Passing by Inspiration Point and Reflection Lake http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psdy55jhvf.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psg5qgl7no.jpg And enjoy the fruits of our labour - descending Stevens Canyon http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psuvr2ogys.jpg And leave the park via the East entrance http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps7sirelky.jpg We ride into Packwood on Hwy12 and stop for refreshments. I admire Bill’s Serotta Murray http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psdealtmy2.jpg We head out of town http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psrtyfpnf8.jpg And close the loop via the beautifully quiet and serene Skate Creek road http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...psx2lk6ffx.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...pscpjkwcd9.jpg |
Northbend, great pictures. I'd really enjoy a trip to the PNW, never been there. I got out early this morning to beat the heat, very peaceful 20 mile cruise on the old Holdsworth, through some rural areas of Eastern CT. Pushing into the 80's by the time I got home at 10 AM. I've got to drive north to Lowell this afternoon, maybe I'll spot some of the New England contingent!

Nice pics folks.

I think yesterday was the first time I've climbed over 5K ft in a ride. Road out from Denver to a friends housewarming party in Conifer CO -- where they live at the very top of a mountainside at 8,900 ft. I didn't know it, by my route took me over the "cookie climb." At the top, a local youth group puts out homemade cookies, water and gatorade for a small donation.
Take a break on the last mile of gravel switchbacks: http://i.imgur.com/GlG8F2o.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zoSkQJJ.jpg Looking down the descent I didn't get to enjoy: http://i.imgur.com/3FbV7c1.jpg |

Spent the weekend doing our MS150 ride that essentially goes from Duluth to the Twin Cities. Here are a couple pics along the way, and one of my dusty Condor. I carried a spare tire just in case one of the relatively soft Veloflex Masters met a catastrophic end, but fortunately didn't even flat the whole way.
