Did you get the pot o gold?

Yesterday's weather report was 80% Last Best Chance for Perfect Fall Weather, so I got one of my underlings to cover for the day and got in my first 100-miler in just about forever. Woot! A real century, not one of them little bitty metric ones.

Perfect weather it was, too. Already 55 degrees when I launched at 9am and never got above 65. Very little wind in either direction.

Cool, dry, sunny weather is my most favorite reason for fall riding. Roadside apples are a close second. You know how your bike always feels heavier at the end of a really long ride? Mine actually was heavier, by about 11 lbs. Should have enough for a couple of pies this weekend:

Last weekend, I was riding the following bike route. I am always wondered how nice are the unpaved routes in Romania in the middle of nowhere.
Old villages where you would not image anybody lives there. A downside of the old villages are the unleashed dogs, a lot. Going alone on such a ride would be kind of irresponsible.
Since the area is very hilly, a nice bike ride requires a lot of elevation. But the descent worth it.

Nice view! I would like to try out this trip too.:D

After 10 days on a cruise ship, eating way too much and doing very little physical activity during that time it felt great to finally be home. Yesterday I got out for a bike ride.

I rode out via the Snoqualmie Valley Trail dropping into the Lower Valley and noodled around there for a while before the ascent / descent of Ames Lake hill over to SR 202. 202 is kind of nasty along this stretch but I wanted ride the old Red Brick Road (paved in 1913) into Redmond. My turn around point was the excellent Black Raven Brewery just North of town. The Fresh Hop Beer was a tasty reward!

I looped back via the E. Lake Sammamish trail enjoying the sun. The Preston Trail took me to the hard climb up to Snoqualmie Ridge on the Lake Alice Road. A fast descent into the upper valley and I was back home before dinner.

Your cruise ship didn't have a velodrome? I think it was there, right behind the climbing wall, on the level just below the surfing pool. You must have just missed it. :)

Umm, I sense sarcasm... But for those who might not be aware (including our international membership), Monticello was owned by Thomas Jefferson, and that's actually a replica of George Washington's estate home at Mt. Vernon. And a rather nice one at that!

Great stuff, everyone. Hambone, nice Moto, nice ride report. Laux is playin' wif us, of course. Everybody know that's the White House in the nation's capital, New York City. But enough about that. I'd be happy with some black ale.

We took the tandem our for 44.6 miles today. I was aiming for a half century at least but we stopped at a nice local farm stand and my sweetie bought a bunch of veggies that loaded the bike down. And while I was waiting for her I check the weather map and it looked like we were in for a soaking if we didn't get a move on. So we took a simpler way home.

Visiting a new town, seeking new roads, but short enough to evaluate the tire integrity of 2 bikes; and before longer rides in coming week.
Champoeg to Butteville twice. Windy enough that I focused on the riding and the traffic on Friday afternoon. Dirt storm from recently plowed fields adjoining the road = no fun.

Did 44 today after installing my "Brexit Triple". I got he rings from wiggle UK and they were pretty cheap. My left knee has been acting up (old running injury) and as I get closer to my 5th decade on this planet, I am forced to admit that spinning is better for it than mashing....would like to keep it factory spec for the next 50 years....

Also, can we get this thread stickied? It has 9k+ replies and 600k+ views. It easily dwarfs some of the other stickied threads in activity and actually encourages riding and member interaction. The facilitators thread and the frame doesn't fit thread have not been updated with new posts since the beginning of September. Maybe remove one of those?

@fender1, what cranks and chainrings are those? I like them. I haven't gotten used to the latest styles of cranks and chainrings yet, and yours look more traditional.

But there's no mention of how much the bikes are worth or what a stinkin' deal one got on the purchase. Definitely, not a true C&V thread. Far too much riding.

True but we can get this done if we can get a couple of other people to weigh in. There are still plenty of spots for flipping talk and I don't mind that. I just want a spot that it is easy to find that is actually about riding.

Tom, Thanks! It is a Shimano mtb crank (Deore I think) from the late 1980's that has been stripped and polished. The chain rings are TA Zephyr, which came from Wiggle in the UK. They are ramped and pinned and work great with 9/10 speed chain. Its ia 110 bcd/74 bcd triple. I don'tlike the look of the Sugino 600 triple with the hidden bolt.

Ft. Bragg. Dropped two females will full local club kits and carbon frames/wheels on one hill like a sack of potatoes on the old Univega. I did it on purpose because they stuck their noses up at me when I waved.

Never underestimate grey beards on old bikes.
