Had a pretty decent weekend.

Bought myself a mint shape 82 Trek 311. It was advertised incorrectly though and I was very sad to get there and find that it was a 24" frame not a 22". Way too big for me but I'm already attached.

Then I got a bunch of low end stuff from a few different people...in total paid $20 for all 6 bikes, all with good tires. Not because I need or want them but because I can't pass them up...I think I have a problem. I don't really want to be a flipper but I now have amassed a ton of bikes that I don't want and will spend the winter tuning and lubing and pass some along at a fair price in the spring and maybe by myself a better model Trek in my size.

Polish? 3-Speed in pretty rough shape. A little small but might make a nice grocery bike

Picked up a nice 1986 Trek 400T Elance last night. Its a hard to find 18 inch frame. I probably will put aerolevers on it, those turkey levers have to go. Bike needs levers, bar tape, cables and bearings.

Quite a find there - it's very hard to find a nice Touring bike for a smaller-statured person. - BTW those dorky turkey wings do not appear to be original anyway, based on the catalog photo:

Thanks, that's what I figured. I couldn't believe Trek would have mucked up this nice bike with turkey levers. Fortunately, I have a couple sets of Shimano aerolevers.

Found this 1990 Worldsport at a pawn shop for $40. It was a bit mistreated (dig the backwards seatpost,) but the paint was nice and it fits my wife, so I grabbed it.

I got this Fuji Cambridge VI 6-speed at a rummage sale. Here it is after doing a thorough cleanup and overhaul. The riding position is extremely upright, probably owing to the swept back bars and a very short top tube. It's quite light for a bike of its class, and it's quite handsome, too.

I don't like riding this upright, but I'm sure someone will.

In the end, it ended up being too small for me, and my fiancee hates drop bars. I put it aside to later on make a hybrid out of it which she can actually use. All it would need is a more upright stem and flat bars/brake levers. Just good luck finding the right stem in 22.0 mm.

About two weeks ago I scored a Trek 4300, a 2007 bike with less than 100 miles... for $75 minus the rear wheel. The LBS hooked me up with a new wheel/cassette/tire/tube for less than I paid for the rest of the bike. Pretty good for something that retails at about $400 or so new. I don't have a pic of it, but I'll post one later. I bought this one to replace the Paris Sport. Only downside so far, it needs a new brake housing and the left crank arm fell off on the first ride! LBS to the rescue again... I'll take it in tomorrow for the necessary repairs. By the way, if you're in PA, I suggest you check out Shirk's Bike Shop. I don't work there or anything, but they're seriously incredible. The shop is in East Earl, PA. Best prices anywhere and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Nice rescue on the World Sport. It really looked out of place with the flat bars. Now it looks great! Well done! Great example of what can be done with a thrift store bike.

Same here, I avoid upright cruisers. But I keep getting asked for one! There is a pretty good market out there for them. I had one buyer that thought a mountain bike was "too racey". (Actually, person didn't buy).

I passed on one a week ago at a local thrift shop for $4.50. I should have nabbed it. I went back later, it was long gone of course.

The saddle is a "Velo Gelite" as found on eBay for $10. Not the most comfortable thing for the long haul, but they're cheap and look great on the bikes I've flipped.

I think they are PX-10's from the research I have done. Anybody know otherwise???

They are definately PX-10's and they have an earlier version of decals than the ubiquitous mid-70's version. miamijim would know better but I'd guess they are late 60's. They look really clean, with the (original?) sew-up tires and the (original?) rear derailleur housing loop that usually splits open. They look like they haven't been ridden in years. I think your bike fund will be topped off nicely with these two. :thumb:

I think you are right about the vintage.

I got up at 5:00 am and hit the road... drove 100 miles to Milwaukee to pick the two bikes up. A husband and wife bought the pair 40 years ago to ride together and now after he had passed away, she donated the bikes to a church charity, where a gentleman posted them on Craigslist. The bikes had never been altered, with the exception of the saddle for the Wife's bike, which is a small frame mens. The other bike is exactly the same but in my size, and it has a vintage brooks B-17 Champion Standard saddle that has patina but is perfect.

There are so few tiny scratches that when I am done cleaning them up... I think they will rate 9.5/10 overall. The sew-ups do indeed seem original, the rims are still remarkably true.

I'm a fool to spend $150.00 on a bike.
