Anybody would want to have Joe 'see my weekly amazing deal' Englert as neighbor!! How's home prices in your area?

It is not C&V, but I picked this up today for $140. It will most likely go to Wichita Falls, TX for my brothers wife. It is in near mint condition with only a few scratches on the tops of the Shifters. It was an easy clean with hardly any gunk, just enough dust to make you think it was C&V. A few adjustments of the brakes and the RD and the thing seems brand new. Crappy pic, sorry.

and I wonder why the good deals in SoCAL are so far and few between; even thrift stores sell sears bikes for $100... on CL nontheless!! <sigh>

Junkfood- Is that a Schwinn Super Sport LE? I picked up one of those LE frames on eBay and have been slowly gathering parts for a build. It's kind of an oddball design (especially the dropouts) and the welds aren't all that pretty, but it is intriguing. Mine also has a 'real' Schwinn logo headbadge and second headbadge with a kinda greek goddess lady on ti and the word 'Nlightened'. I know the Select frames were sold only through bike shops and not chain stores, but have never seen a frame like mine or a complete build up.

Don't know what you guys think of this. Not sure how old it actually is but got this old British Eagle road bike for FREE! from a thing called freecycle. I posted on the appraisals part but noone seems to be able to help me? any ideas?

fender1 02-10-10 03:44 PM

Looks to be a standard late 90's hybrid style bike. The cantilever brakes have been swapped out for V-style brakes. Is it aluminum or steel? Either way for free you did well. In the Philly area it would be worth $100-$175 on craigslist. Hope that helps.

Find some drop bars and brifters, and the price would jump considerably!,,,,BD

You might need travel agents, to work linnear pulls with brifters though?

noglider 02-11-10 08:48 AM

Briggsi87, take pictures of the right side of the bike, where the drivetrain is.

We have freecycle here, too. It's wonderful. I've received lots of things, and I've given away lots of things.

OK, it's not C/V that I can think of but I have to tell SOMEONE:
Cycle-ops friction trainer
Set of Nashbar panniers
Trek 820
spare rear wheel mounted with Specialized Fatboy tire
sixty bucks!

The shifters are installed. I took it out for a brief ride yesterday before the snow hit; it shifts nicely.

Is that a CODA 900 saddle? I bought one on closeout form a bike shop for ten bucks, it's the most comfortable saddle I've ever used.

Aside from the saddle bag I put on there (which came off my single speed), the bike is in as-bought condition (aside from a few adjustments).

Bikedued 02-11-10 08:32 PM

Looks WAY better with the DT shifters! Needs a San Marco saddle now. Grey suede maybe?,,,,:D BD

Yeah - June. If you happen to come through the East Bay before that and care to drag it along, drop me a pm. 56cm is close enough. :)

Definitely awesome with the new shifters. How did you touch up the rust?
