I need to move to some other part of the country. Around here, there is no dump. According to my town, private contractors haul away recycling and destroy it right away. A bike like that would be listed at $200 or so in CL here in CNJ.

Touring bike or tandum wheel. If it is a Ukai rim with a specialized hub it may have come off a 60cm plus 80's Fuji touring bike. The non drive side threads are for a AUX drum brake.
The rim is a 27 x 1 1/4 Mavic with a Sansin sealed bearing hub(6 speed Shimano 600) |
I got this. It's a Peugeot and that's all I know. No chrome, Peugeot branded everything, seat, derailures, stem, cranks, the whole 9. 6x2 with downtube shifters. Can't for the life of me figure out what model it is. Needs a front-D at least. Prety big for me too at 64cm.

When you come home from a hard days work it's always nice to be rewarded. My reward today was the females version of the men's Glider I found in the trash the other week, this one was about 20 mins away from where i found the other one.

First catch in awhile, not really looking, but I could not pass them up. No real rust on either, just grime.

There is actually a pretty decent Motobecane hiding under all of that clutter. The Elite was pretty much thrown in.

Grabbed this at the town dump Saturday:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...i/IMG_2226.jpg Japan-built Executive, seemingly original and barely used. More details (and questions) in this thread: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ave-I-got-here |

My youngest Brother Alex W. (West Town Bikes in Chicago) surprised me with a C&V care package! Pretty cool stuff! Ladies Ideale 92 Diagonale saddle, NOS Mafac Racers, wipperman chain, Simplex Front Der. Leather toe straps, and some bar tape! I'm feeling pretty much loved ;) Cheers, Chris |
I'm skirting the edge of 'vintage' here, but i picked up this '93 Diamondback Expert tg . Somewhere along the way, it had a flat bar + grip shifters retrofit, but otherwise it seems original. It's not nearly as heavy as I thought it'd be. -

Just do an advanced search and search within a certain proximity (say 50 mi.) of your zip code and/or items that are local pick up (it's a check box).
I've also had luck with local bikes that list really high shipping costs and then picking it up. The high shipping scares some people off. |
