You looking for it cleaned up, as is project or frame?

I'll get some better shots this week and I want to get the rack off it to check the frame and paint under all the tape and crap they have on it to mount it.

This bike was somebody's DD at some point. its actually in decent usable condition. wheels are true, bearings feel good. they were very liberal with the oil and the real hub is particularly filthy and a good bit of wear on the large crank chain ring, less so on the small.

Picked up a donor bike last night, a very unusual bike for sure: a Softride Solo 700C. Bike is mostly tricolor 600 8 speed, which I need for another build. Unfortunately, the brifters had been changed out. Everything works, price was right, and the wheels will look good on my Prologue (then the wheels on the Prologue that looked out of place go on another build).

.

As soon as my back recovers, I want to give this crazy bike a ride.

Also picked up this Raleigh mixte: alloy rims, three piece crankset, made in Japan. 4 bikes in four days, that's enough for a while.

I know why your back hurts: picking up too many bikes lately! Seriously, hope the back heals soon.

Real nice catch on that Black Lightning. I would consider either gold or black bar tape.

Sweet looking 'dale, Chuckk!
Please please please go with black tape though -after all, it's a Black Lightning. Anything else would be like Darth Vader in a pink tutu.

Well what I had hoped was a Austro-Damiler Vent Noir is actually a A-D SLE. Pictures the guy sent were so bad I couldn't tell a color just that the decals were in bad shape. Looks original except that the Hurret Duo-Par RD has been replaced by a Shimano Tourney and from what I have read...that might just be a upgrade.

After some haggling because of how messed up the paint is I got it at a price I was ok with and a older trainer that I should be able to sell for $30-40 to make the price even better. Its 531 main triangle and not too brick like. 63cm Need to clean it up and decide what I'm doing with it. Might be Beater II if it rides nice .
Ad pictures later, was to dark when I go home to get them.

Tomorrow I may go look at another bike that is on my short list and see how bad its messed up between sweat caused TT rust and stupid cam crank.

Ohh it has Nervar Star 1004 cranks that looks built like TA. Any chance it will take TA rings to make a triple?

Just got from CraigsList...Saved it from a teenager who was TRASHING it. May be too late, the chrome on the chainstay is BAD. Paint and decals still very good, almost all the SunTour Sprint Grouppo...except for the wheels, still Araya, but not apparently Sprint Hubs. Missing hoods, bad tape, one Sprint pedal cap missing.

Not a bad rescue. You can still find chrome chainstay protectors on Ebay. It might pay to cover your with one.

The local bike shop here in town closed their doors apparently................it's primarily a BMX shop but I did buy there on ocassion. Under former ownership I purchased a couple of bikes and my son raced on their BMX team. Soooooooo...........I rifled through their dumpster this afternoon and found 2 1/2 gallons of MudShine bike cleaner, a couple of 26" cruiser tires, a GT MTB fork and a few other trivial items.

I already posted a separate thread about this bike the other day. Since it may literally have been destined for the dump, I hope nobody minds a double-posting on this thread as well. 1973 Ron Kitching Titanium (rebranded Speedwell).

I am sure no one minds doing a double take on that gaucho! - After all, how often do you (literally) pull a vintage Ti bike out of the slag heap?

I'm dying to see the "after" photo though!

Needless to say, the flow of bicycles to the local Dump slows down, somewhat, in the middle of the Thunder Bay winter. None the less, with the start of the year, the flow begins anew and today a near mint mid-seventies Shields-Nishike International, complete with head badge, showed up, along with a few other mountain bikes and a rocking horse(shoulda tooka pic of that too)...

The SuperBe Crank was not with the bike. It has some some rust and paint problems. Its going to need to be completely stripped and painted. It had one of the miserable Power cam cranks on it and they do ugly things to the BB. Took me 3 hours to get it off trying not to do any more damage.

Rode it with the powerCam...what a bizarre item. I'm open to trying stuff, I actually like the oval crank gears but I tried to give it a fair shake and I just couldnt get it off fast enough.

It came off in one piece but the shims were done. if you want it pay the shipping and its yours and I even have the manual.

Threw the 105 crank on it so I could take it for a spin. Rides sweet! It is going to end up with a full 8 speed 105SC STI The corn cob with a 18 low on it is just not going to work here and the Superbe RD can only handle a 22 tooth gear and 28 is the preferred gear.

Picked this up today at a thrift store. As far as I can tell it is a 1986 P16 Iseran. It came with the Dynapower generator and lights and an extra set of road bars with brake levers. Not bad for $20.

Picked up a mid 1990s Klein Aeolus. They were originally high end bikes, this one needs a lot of TLC. It is a desirable small size. PO rattle canned part of the frame, hopefully I will get that paint off. Missing original fork, components do not appear to be original, other than the headset. Cannondale 650C wheelset, Ultegra 6500 crank, brakes and derailleurs.

FWIW: Bike sat on C/L for 20 days before I bought it. Didn't exactly scoop it.... Bars are typical triathlon style. I have a friend looking for a small tri bike, so I might just keep it that way.
