Finished up the Tommasini. Need to ride it some before I decide which bike has to leave..

That looks nice. The green bar tape and yellow accents complement the frame colors well.

Hmmm... Not sure about the lime green tape and housing. Nice catch though.

Very nice looking bike. What are the bikes are you trying to decide on cutting? Maybe we can help? Maybe someone here might be interested in the one you decide to cut.

One of either a Quintana Roo Aerial (full DA, Merlin Ti frame), Colnago Master Lite, or the Tommasini. The chrome Katakura, the Prologue, and the Paramount Series 5 are safe, for now.....
If I were you, but I'm not, just an opinion, I would keep the Colnago and the Tommasini without hesitation. I know you could make more money selling them but once you sold them you'll be kicking yourself for doing so a few months later. I don't know too much about the Quintana but I think it's on the difficult to find scale of things since I could find very little info on the bike other then it's made of ti and no longer in production. But that one is an oddity and probably the one I would sell since it really isn't offering anything, it's not all that light at almost 19 pounds, it was inexpensive bike for TI, the name doesn't make people stand up and take notice, and the level of artistry is low compared to the Colnago and the Tommasini. But keep in mind that was just my opinion, I have a weakness for lugs and chrome, and both the Colnago and Tommasini have that...problem is so do a lot a of buyers, so it's all but impossible to find those at reasonable prices. |
Quintana Roo Aerial (if I let it go I would probably keep all the nine speed DA stuff/move it to the Tommasini). Neither is vintage, both about the same age.

The saddle came off the Colnago, forget the model right now. It was the only one I had with some yellow on it....
Part of the STI appearance is the angle of the pic, although it looks like I need to level them out a bit. I always mess around with that when I have the bike on the rack, and don't always get them straight. Looks like the right hand unit is higher than the left hand. Oh well, I needed to round up a shorter stem anyway.... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8289/7...8f815637_b.jpg |

Nice Quintana Roo...I believe I PM'd you about it several months ago. I have an early 2000's Borrego (road geometry) that's one of my favorite bikes. |

I just picked up this 1997 Klein Stage for free from a friend's older brother who wanted it out of his garage. It's in amazing, nearly unused condition but the shifters need to be de-gunked (they don't do anything right now), the hubs need attention, and I need to reattach the front DT shifter boss to the frame. On these bikes there's a screw that goes through the frame to hold both bosses on along with some help from epoxy. Is it vintage? No, but it is a pretty interesting bike and a precursor of things to come in a lot of ways. The main tubes are massive as are the chainstays. Even though this was Klein's cheapest road bike it is still very nicely built (in Chehalis, WA I believe). Oddly enough, the Stage has 3 sets of bottle bosses and an extra boss on the back of the seat tube which I assume is for a fender - there's not a ton of room but I can probably fit 25mm tires and narrow fenders on. The short reach brakes have the pads at the bottom of the slots. This bike also has a triple which in addition to the extra bottle mount (under downtube) feels incongruent with a bike built with such large diameter aluminum tubing and pretty average looking angles. It's clearly not a touring bike. Anyway, I think that the Kleins are classics in their own right and I'm happy to have gotten this one. If it rides well I'll probably do a few upgrades with stuff I have laying around. Oh, and the red on this bike is AMAZING!

What do you guys mean by CL? A lot of people are saying the bikes they found were found at a CL or a local CL... what does it mean??

Thank you. Now it all makes sense.

I got a green stepthru Specialized Hardrock mtb today.. looks like very late 80s/early 90s. it was on the back of my friends car rack... i was like what're you doing with the bike. She's all it's going to goodwill, why you want it? I was like yeah!
Needs a lil tuning and trigger shifters seem messed up but should clean up nicely.. gonna give it to some friends who have no car and need transportation badly |
CL has been a bust this entire year around where I live, I find bikes worth about $25 to $50 going for $115 to as much as $250. I pity those living in the Chicago area, their prices are just whacked, I've seen bikes worth $50 starting at $200 and go up from there, and they must be selling them because the keep pushing high prices like this low end Fuji Sport: http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/bik/3109335458.html.

Looks like a Turbo-matic saddle. Nice job on the bar tape and cable color, looks cool!

Caught this one this afternoon. The seller was about 4 miles from me. I have done some research but still don't have a lot of information as to the frame material and how many models were made.
The Dura Ace AX has some odd looking brake calipers. The FD is Campagnolo and not sure about the seat post yet. Record hubs with Mavic rims. Someone has ridden it pretty recently, the tires are fairly new. It has some rust spots but no dents. I think it will be a fun project and it's my size. http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...ensho/Side.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...ensho/Rear.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...Rensho/Lug.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...akecaliper.jpg http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/z...3Rensho/BB.jpg Great find, that is the only Japanese bike I'm looking for. If you decide to sell it keep me in mind. |
+1 Terrific find on the 3 Rensho. Well done, enjoy it!

Have been riding it all over the city for the past week. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...velocycle1.jpg It also has a rather decent fold. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...ocyclefold.JPG |
