This 1984 Bianchi Nuovo Alloro has been sitting in a small bike shop for close to a year. Bike shop was selling it on consignment and wanted a crazy amount. I made a fair offer over the summer with no luck. Last night they finally accepted it. Very nice condition with all the original parts, new Gatorskins and cables. It's apart right now and it's cleaning up like new. Never really into Bianchis or the Celeste green, but I like this one.

A friend gave me this BIANCHI frame because he hit a car with it and bent the downtube and top tube very slightly. I put loose balls into the headset instead of caged bearings and it can be ridden no-hands.

I took off the Suntour stuff and put on a number of Shimano parts I had on my Vintage Parts Display Shelf. Those included the Shimano Adamas AX front and rear derailleurs. I decide to go as aero as I could so i used a Tiagra crankset and Dia-Compe Aero brake levers. the bike rides on Vittoria Corsa CX tubular tires mounted to mavic GP4 rims on Miche hubs.

Finally got around to investigating an old Trek frame I picked up a few months ago. What I thought was an Ishiwata 5xx turns out to be a 1982 Trek 730 Reynolds 531 frameset with a Reynolds 531 chrome fork, Campy headset, and Tange bottom bracket!

Paint job was done in the 80's, so it's pretty rad I've mocked it up with a set of fixie wheels just to give it some street red, and check out the angles. Best thing is, it's a prefect fit! I'm going to throw some Ultegra 6650 SL on it, and ride the radness for a while, then if I love it, probably powdercoat and do a full frame restore.

Over the last month I've picked up about 25 bicycles & a lot of parts to add to the hoard, worth mentioning: 1985 Trek 450 series believed to be mostly original but in rough condition( not much info on these out there ). It has a Campy RD,FD,Crankset & shifters with black Dia Compe 500's & non safety levers with stock like new black hoods. Wheels are double walled w/eyelets & Maillard hubs which I think have seals & are in good mechanical shape. Paint is poor and it's been touched up by someone. I don't know anything about Campagnolo parts at all, as when I was a young lad I was told to stick with what works, Suntour (Joking). The RD has a broken tension spring & is just flopping around ( don't know what I am able to do about this yet ).
Also a 77 or 78 ( haven't checked yet ) Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2 in full chrome, also rough. A boys 24" tired Huffy with a tank & lights, complete & not to bad. A 4130 Schwinn Travler, bent fork.

I picked this old Glider up, early last Spring, with no intention of doing anything with it - but...

The old bike is so clean and original that I just kept it around. Here it is, in its role as a "Flower Pot" bike, but it is now stored back indoors. One can only wonder why someone would throw something like this away? Anyway, a genuine "dump save"...

Now that my racing career is done LOL, I appreciate these old bikes more than ever. If I were closer, I would be making you an offer!

Got a Shimano 105 hub (1st Edition?) with light grey anodizing on it and it's laced to a semi-aero rim with a 20mm 700C tire and tube. the entire thing was $5.00 and the tire and tube are in excellent condition.

A friend of mine went back to this guy he had bought a Sparta Dutch mixte from, since one of his wheels wasn't working very well. He picked up a set of wheels for $30, and brought them home not realizing they were 700's. He still had them in the truck today when he showed up for the ride. We struck a deal before we even started the ride.

What are they?

700 x 20mm rims, and Sturmey Archer three speed on the rear... The kicker?? Both hubs are Sturmey Archer, and both are equipped with drum brakes!! Apparently they came off of a 1995 Gazelle, since both hubs are 1995 dated, and the frame in the dumpster was a Gazelle. Kind of a sad fate, and my friend did try to save it. It would have taken all day to unload the dumpster and then refill it. Oh well, time to build a bike around these wheels I guess!,,,,BD

I've got it!!! 71 Raleigh Super Course in coffee color!! Perfect frame donor. It's loaded with the HORRIBLE RD they are known for. I've got pretty much everything I need, plus a B67 to push it over the top. A Winter project bike is born!

Raleigh had Gran Sport, Gran Sports, and Grand Sports, IIRC. One of the Turquoise and white models. I have had the frame for 7 years now, and have never built it up.....BD

Far as I can tell its a late 60's Sears Sportflight frame. Now lives again as a kidback.

Rides like a wet noodle, which is actually not a bad thing for what this is used for.

I got to this point in about 20 minutes or so. It was still a complete bike just minus the wheels. Drum brake wheels definitely need a bearing service and a deep cleaning. Not a lot of rust on the chrome steel drum hubs however. Only a few little orange spots.,,,,BD

So true--that rear derailleur is a piece of crap. I'll trade you a nice Campagnolo Valentino for it.

I think either would have looked nice with those wheels you picked up.

The Super Course is a little larger, so it will be better for me for an upright bike. In fact the GS might be a little small for me. The handlebar thing is still up in the air too. I have a steel drop bar that I may try. It would be more Clubman like.

As far as the the build. It looked like the previous picture until I got home from work today. Nearly everything on the bike took a 9 or 10mm wrench to remove, so it went way quicker than I realized it would. This was an hour or less.,,,,BD

Clubman would be cool! Hard to go wrong when you have one of those coffee SC's to start out with.
