I picked up an unknown year Selle Italia Flite Genuine Gel saddle which is in mint condition, never used! It has vanox rails so I'm not sure if that helps determine age. I'm thinking mid 90's.

I've got a couple Selle Italia saddles (same shape as yours, but before they were labeled "Flite"). I believe the month and year of manufacture are molded into the plastic shell, underneath, near the back. I wouldn't be surprised if yours is the same. I can take some pictures tomorrow if that might help.

i need help finding some info on these. score them at 70http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=491502http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=491502http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=491503 there is a UCI Champion logo on one side
Late 90's Mavic Cosmic Carbone wheels. No idea about the UCI decal - probably put there by the previous owner. If you got them for $70, you stole them - that's cheep. I just picked up a set for $300 to put on my Saturn Team GT. I love them. They ride nice, not to harsh, and once you get them up to speed - they stay there. |

Well, dang. I was half right. I have two Selle Italia saddles, one pre-Flite, one Flite, both the same shape though. The pre-Flite saddle does have the month and year (or so I interpret the two numbers) underneath the saddle at the rear on either side of "selle ITALIA," in this case, "09" on the left, "87" on the right:
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...p;d=1453127327 The other saddle is a Flite. It lacks the month/year numbers, though it still has the little pads where they would have gone: http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...p;d=1453127328 I notice the Flite also lacks "Made in Italy," it having been obliterated by a little bump of plastic. A little off-shoring going on? |

Let me make it clear that I did NOT save this one from the dump...er, metal recycler in Colonial Heights, Virginia. It's my wife's birthday and we had an outing for antiques, lunch, and general goofing off. On the way home from Petersburg we crossed the river and spotted this instantly in a tangle of metal on a recycler's lot. '80s Bianchi Strada from the Bicycle Pro Shop in Georgetown in D.C., one of Mel Pinto's old retail locations. It's just a basic lightweight and could be saved but it was not in the cards today. If it had been my size I'd have lobbied to bring it home. Putting this out there for someone nearby who might want it.

Got a great deal on this Olmo frameset. Mid level frame with Columbus Matrix. Have to wait for the snow to melt to see how it rides.http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...psnyqdctph.jpg

Matrix = Cromor. It should ride very nicely.

Nice find. I recommend Panaracer "Mach" tires. They are front and rear specific SS & SK models, but can be run either or I guess. They're durable, and grippy enough for everything I've ridden into.,,,,BD

Not a great find, but not a bad find either. I picked up a Peugeot PH-501 this afternoon. It is my size and only needs a front tire & tube along with the usual neglected bike maintenance. There is a ding in the top tube (about 1/32" deep and 3/8"wide). The paint is in better shape than I thought from the single photo that the seller posted. The chain is toast, but has no frozen links and allowed me to shift through the entire gear range. Here are some photos.

Garage kept with a slightly open package of fertilizer and/or pool chemicals. Thankfully not long enough where it can't be salvaged though. I wouldn't sneeze at a PH501, not at all. I'd be grinning ear to ear if I got one of those cheap enough in that condition. Of course if it was a PGN10, the top of my head might fall off:lol:.,,,,BD
Definitely LOVE that maroon and rainbows. It's my favorite Peugeot color scheme..... |

Saved this from a dark, dusty forgotten box in the LBS today. I had to tell them what it was. They said" But it's empty, why would you want it?"
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=501213 Little rubber plastic saddle bag by Reydel. 60's-70's I think.Perfect for a few tools, phone, money or tire repair items. Earmarked for my Belgique bike. |
