Very happy to have snagged this lovely light recumbent thing on a FB Marketplace ad listed as "Bike" (lol!). I picked it up for $50 in Capitol Hill and it just needed a new rear tube and tire. This is a BikeE CT RoadE edition from the early 1990s. It has a 3 speed Sachs IGH and a 7 speed cassette with a Shimano XTR rear derailleur (probably not standard; seems super high end based on my reading). Boy was changing out that rear 451 tire total hell - I had to cut the already torn existing tire to get it off and I stretched out the new tire by the radiator in my apartment before I could get it on the rim. In the past few days I finally adjusted the rear derailleur properly by tightening down the B screw and adjusting cable tension so that the chain was directed at the proper gear or in the proper orientation at each gear, especially lowest and highest. It feels great and rides great. It is less maneuverable than a folding bike, and I affectionately refer to it as a bicycle tractor trailer, but it should be great for some long rides in the DMV.

Picked this up so my daughter can go ride some trails with me this summer:

Going to make a few changes to the cockpit (shorter, taller), new saddle, and we’ll be in fat city! Nice little bike for a $20 dollar bill!

Very similar bike to my 1996 Raleigh M400 that I've had since new. The major (minor) differences look to be that my Raleigh has wishbone seat stays and STX-RC Rapidfire levers. Your front wheel looks like a replacement, but a quality one. I hope your daughter enjoys it!

Thanks all! Yes, the front wheel does not match the rear, but it is a nice Mavic 230 rim on a period correct LX hub. Wish they matched but oh well. Would like to trade out the Grip Shift for proper STX-RC Rapidfires but again, oh well. I do have some SunRace 3x7 speed trigger shifters I may put on just because Grip Shift from that era sucks. I may also upgrade her brakes to V-brakes just because I have some hanging around....

Just got this 70s or 80s road bike from a friend! He is moving from DC to Houston and couldn't take it. It's a British Falcon bike and seems to be chromoly construction. He had already inflated the tires, so I rode it from the subway station home through the light snowfall, no problem. I'm going to WD-40 the rusty bits and lube up the chain in the next couple days.

Grabbed a nice 1985 Trek 600 today. 531 with the 600 group. Someone swapped out the non aero levers to the aero Superbe Pro's. Should clean up nicely. I need a seat binder bolt for this, anyone know the length for these?

In nearly 20 years of bikes, this is my first 4130 Schwinn. '73 Super Sport, LBS find. Going to flip it as it's too small for me (and I'd build a Sports Tourer first before I'd bother with an Ashtabula crank), but couldn't resist the opportunity. Virtually fell into my lap.
Front tire is the original

As found. Believe it or not, the only thing between these pics is the removal of the bottle cage, the bar position, and a pair of tires filled up so they don't look flat

A nice looking bike except for Ah! the dreaded Schwinn "electrical tape" on the handlebars -- go away bad dream.

Univega Gran Turismo
First thrift store find in a long time, Univega Gran Turismo, Suntour BL components, 25” with 22” top tube. Looks to be in pretty good shape, seatpost and stem aren’t stuck, has Cane Creek replacement hoods. A couple of pics as found.

Looks just like mine, except mine was pulled out of a junk pile behind a thrift store, in pretty rough shape. This is in pretty nice condition for being almost forty years old.

Bikes: Hi-Ten bike boomers, a Trek Domane and some projects
I was given this derailleur this morning. I know some people aren't fans due to performance, but I think these are beautiful. And since I'm an old man and performance isn't an issue, I'm pretty damn inclined to find a project to put it on.

A bit of an apples and oranges scenario, Gilmours are a true one at a time custom builds and while the Paramounts were handbuilt with many being custom, they were cranked out by the dozens and hundreds, often at a dizzying pace. It was called "the cage" with good reason.

You did fantastic, great score.

This literally was saved from the trash pile. It's high tensile steel and absolutely nothing special but it's no longer headed to oblivion and someone will get some use out of it. It's got decent indexing thumbies. I replaced the saddle, rear hub and rear spokes with used but good condition ones, lubed, shined and painted. (black is easy to touch up), and put some pretty nice used road tires on it. I was very disappointed to find the seatpost is stuck. It extends about a foot down the seat tube and isn't really worth the effort to remove it so it goes out as is. I got a nice rear rack out of it so I'm into it for about zero dollars.
