I tried to ignore this one at a local church sale down the street but a lady there recognized me as the "bike guy" and insisted to all friends that I could make it like new. So for a $10 donation, I have a "Made in Canada" Pro Tour 400. It actually is a usable bike but I did not need another right now. An all steel beauty? It must have been made for some store, maybe Woolco or Zellers?

\ I believe it to be a 1997 KHS Summit X, although there is nothing denoting it as an "X" model. I suspect the rigid forked version was just the Summit, while the suspension forked version was the "X". Not a lot of info about KHS out there, so I'm just guessing. Don't know what I'll do with it; maybe make it next years' clunker challenge bike? The price was definitely worth the drive. As found condition, but I think it will clean up nicely. https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/...spx?item=68855 |

Reminds me. Were you able to buy that Super Sport SP in Berlin?

^^^^^ Yeah, I get it. Hearing crickets on CL ads has become normal.

Also has it's own thread but I couldn't help myself.

Kind of random scrap yard stuff, but this should work to hold up the milling machine table I picked before the pandemic. Cause I'm going to build bikes when I grow up... |

A very early Rodriguez tandem has floated to the house o' 66. Phil hubs 48 and 36 on Wolber rims, Mafac canti, along with theTA crankset.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b00a2108f1.jpg And the other beast, Urago. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...fa59ba579c.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5722dffdf2.jpg |

A roadside pick up a couple blocks from my house. It was leaning against a telephone pole along with a 90's Fisher aluminum MTB with a wonky suspension fork. I actually knocked on a few doors nearby and found the owner who obliged smilingly and gently nudged me to take the MTB as well. I respectfully declined, telling him it was only a matter of hours. Driving by the next day, it was indeed gone.
As found: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...71c5c6f64.jpeg Happily, I had an almost new set of 2x8 6401 downtube shifters. The STI's are missing a couple parts each and have no hoods. They will be kept for future harvesting. I also had a pair of 6400 dual pivot calipers that replaced the partials seen hanging. The stem was missing it's tightening bolt, and truthfully, the bike is a 57 with a long top tube, so I found a generic 80mm to replace it. Got a set of new Conti 4000IIs 28mm (which barely fit under the rear brake) and Bob's your uncle! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d802dd7fa.jpeg Only small issue is a ding in the drive side seat stay and some light paint loss on the bottom of both seat stays. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2241cae9d.jpeg |

Not a super score, but I will always save a solid Peugeot. I'm finding this to be a 74-76 UO8. Love to see original stickers. A Prince George's Co. bike registration from Dec. 31 1976. Surprisingly the Simplex derailleurs are not cracked yet and seat post and stem are not seized. It looks to have been gently used. Easily cleaned and tuned.

A friend made his way up from Tennessee after finding a Schwinn at his local dump. Fairly good shape except for the fluted seatpost.

So I am usually looking at the newest ads (craigs, offerup, etc), as good deals tend to go fast. But, I forget how easy it is for a deal to get lost/buried in the listings. Recently saw a month plus old ad for a 91' Sirrus. Pretty sure I had inquired when it was new? Way too cheap to still be listed, but I reached out again anyway. Response: "yeah I still have it come and get it" All original parts, clean bike, now mine for a song. I might have to start looking at some of those older listings?
no pic? so maybe it didn't happen? I will fix that soon! |
In FL helping a relative with storm cleanup. Found this Grand Jubile in a neighbor’s pile. A size too big unfortunately, but a nice looking bike. Frame is dirty but in great shape.

Wow these are some amazing finds and catches. Great job folks!

This was put out at a city wide garage sale event. Asked the guy about it and all he could say was he hated it, lol. Someone rebuilt it but didn't get everything correct. 93?

Drug this home today. Frame deeply corroded especially the chrome. Shifters may be used for voyageur build.
