Thanks. I'm very happy with them. The chrome isn't perfect, but they polished up very nicely. One is on the Trek already, and I'll save the second for a future project.

Those bottle cages look sweet, nice catch.

I got these a bit ago but never really felt motivated to post them:

1960 Raleigh built western flyer 3 speed. Picked up at a local flee market:

Wrights W3N saddle $10.50 on ebay and picked up locally! I only have a photo of it on my commuter:

I also got a great looking Brooks B15 at the LBS dirt cheap.

I took the new Kuwahara down to the bike co-op today so I could hang out and tinker... when I pulled the rear hub apart it was as squeaky clean and shiny as the front with virtually no wear at all.

The old grease was like honey.

Met a fellow who worked at the local shop the bike came from and said he probably put this one together back in '85 and that the Siera Grande (this is how it is spelled on my bike) sold for $700.00 Cdn and that he has been riding his '84 Sierra Grande since it was new and has used it for some extensive touring as it is a touring frame.

The '84 had a nicer Ishiwata butted frame and was the equivalent of the later Cascade sitting at the top of Kuwahara's impressive line up

He asked if I would part with the Suntour XC pedals and I said sure and then when I went to the used pedal bin I found some beautiful Suntour XC Pro pedals which are as smooth as butter on glass.

:D :D :D :D

We had a good time exchanging Kuwahara lore and agreed that these are some of the nicest frames one can find and that they are even nicer than Miyata from that era.

This bike may be a keeper.

Sixty Fiver 08-22-09 07:02 PM

From Speedplay... these are nice as my Superbe pedals.

Parted with these 1st generation XC pedals (which more than paid for my bike).

My son found a 1955 Schwinn Deluxe Racer in the garbage today! is runs good, missing one spoke. Chrome rims are pitted real bad. The fenders are real clean as is the cranks. The 3 speed Sturmey-Archer hub works perfect. Tires are good and the tubes are good. Mesinger seat is clean too. A friend gave me a 1977 Free Spirit ladies bike. It is extremely clean! I also got a Monark from another friend that is real cool but has a bunch of rust. What a week!

This is a shout out to my brother (Fender 1). Thanks for picking up the Gitane and then making it my B-day present.

I picked this up today & added the Saddle & old cola box & beer. Totally Awesome

Nope. I started that process tonight. It's crusty but in decent condition. Sadly just a tad too big for me to tide. Will make a nice E-bay flip.

+1 and that should clean up nicely too; looks like an awesome colour underneath the grime - very good find!

Peugeot PSV10-N

Hi everyone - I got an exceptional deal on this Peugeot PSV10-N recently, and I have been doing all sorts of stretching exercises ever since, but it's still too tall for me, so I'll flip it on eBay as soon as I figure out the logistics of shipping a bike.

Fender, I'm not trying to be the bearer of potential bad news here, but you might want to give the right brake bridge braze a close look - there seems to be a bit of a gap there.

Undeniably spiffy though :thumb:

I'll get pics another day but I hooked my friend up with a nearly mint 1980 Raleigh Twenty in the non export version... meaning it has 451 wheels and steel brakes rather than those pathetic alloy ones.

It is one of the most stunning Twenty's I have ever seen... I love brown Twentys with those cream sidewalls on the tyres.

sahadev 08-24-09 11:51 PM

Yes! Pics please of the 80's Raleigh 20!

nikkorod 08-25-09 01:34 PM

Picked up a 1983 19" Schwinn Traveler. It is in great condition with some scratching. Overalll nice bike. 4130 main tubes Suntour AR der. Araya 27" alloy rims. It cost me a total of 5.00....yep.....5.00. Cleaned it up and shines. Needs only a minor tuning.

I picked up a super nice Centurion Iron man yesterday. Then on my way to actually pick it up today, I found a sweet Nishiki cresta. Been a dry spell lately, but now it's pouring cool bikes. More pics of the Centurion in the wiw thread.

HSean 08-25-09 06:47 PM

I just got this lad today. it's gonna be my winter bike but it must go some modifications!
