And another freebie from the side of the road :) Wayyyyyyy to big for me, but a neat bike nonetheless. "New" 27" knobbies, half of a Blumel Popular fender set, Schwinn rando bars, generator light set, matching bar tape. Serial Number CJ56955

I like how you matched your work stand to the bike. Will that come up at Mill Valley?

Sadly, I'll be missing Mill Valley. I'll be up in Ukiah, riding the Mendocino Monster.

BluesDaddy 05-28-10 02:13 PM

Ah, Mill Valley. My grandmother lives there. :)

Picked up this 1992 Club Fuji, in a desirable small frame size. All RX100, seven speed. The best part is that it came with a slew of extras (seats, HR monitor, trainer, jerseys, etc), which should cover the price of the bike. We'll see if my wife is ready for drops. Seat post was sky high on this bike as former owner was way too big for it.

Should clean up really nice. Just have to figure out a way to fit all of this stuff in the car as we are on vacation.

Nice score on the Club Fuji wrk101 ! - SO in essence the bike was free! - That's the way to do it !

Picked up this Univega Gran Touring for $80. It came with a nice set of Campy wheels (w/ DT spokes). Need to remove some cable from the brakes, the loops are unnecessarily high (at least for me). Otherwise, it is ready for the road.

Ummm yeah?? They look long enough to get your helmet caught on long aero descents, lol.,,,,BD

No...I don't have a bicycle tree but I now have a custom made Arvon tandem frame to build up for my family.

:)

Above is a Nishiki Olympic 12 that I snagged from eBay recently on a local P/U: I am really impressed with Nishiki's in-general, but like the Maruishi's, I don't think they get as much recognition as they deserve...
People are (understandably) enthusiastic about Centurions, Miyatas, and Panasonics, but IMHO, these other Japanese marques get overlooked.

I also have a nice Nishiki International (below) from a CL impulse buy, which has great road manners, and which I cannot seem to part with.

Auchen - Nishiki made some really beautiful bicycles and the International is a beauty what with the sweet Araya rims and Mk 2 Cyclone.

They get a lot of love here... my first road bike was a Nishiki Competition and that was a stunning bike in every respect.

SixtyFiver -
Do you have any pictures of the Competition?
I would like to see one.

Mine was a 21 inch frame in Lake Blue (same as image)... was... because it was stolen.

My condolences. I hope you come across one just like it at a garage sale for ~$10, -and if it happens to be the theif's garage sale, bop him one for me!

Sixty Fiver 05-30-10 12:33 AM

It was the only bike I have ever had stolen... and this was 25 years ago.

I caught the thief as he was a friend of my brothers and he could have avoided the beating I gave him had he disclosed the names of the people he sold my bike to... he parted with it for $40.00 which got him a few cases of beer... and an epic ass whupping.

The bike cost over $800.00 new and was in pristine shape and I had added what was then, a very expensive cyclometer and Sanyo generator system as I did a lot of training at night when the roads were empty.

Would love to find another in the same colour and in nice condition... just for old times sake.

HSean 05-30-10 09:23 AM

Dun dun dun! I got this today, best part is it aint the brown color! it`s ridable but needs some cleaning done to it. looks to be a 1972 model.

I picked this one up for Mrs CB400 yesterday morning. A genuine 531 framed, made in the UK, 1987 Raleigh Granada. It looks like I finally got her off of her hybrid.

I noticed it a couple of days ago and even posted it on the "Are you looking for one of these" thread (since removed). But, I kept thinking about it, showed it to her, and she liked it.

Here it is in "as received" condition.

Picked up a nice Wheeler 5200zx mountain bike. Smaller size and just needs a cleaning -- tires and everything else is in good shape. Full cromoly double butted frame. Has a weird threadless headset that does not use a star nut.

I bought a Wheeler 3000 trekking bike once. The stupidest thing I've done in the last few years(Among others) was to sell it.
It had every braze on known to man, and wide 700's. An EXCELLENT candidate for a touring rig, and I sold it because I didn't have time
to work on it. Sure it needed everything, but it was fairly light and very cool. The color sucked, but I could have remedied that. Oh well,
that's life.,,,,BD

From what I found it is a German brand, and not sold in the US?

Apparently there was a shop in Cleveland that was selling them for while back in the 90's -- folks I bought it from got it new at a local shop.
