Last night I had a dream that I was walking through a newer cookie-cutter subdivision and I came upon a moving van where people were clearly moving out. Next to the van on the curb was a pile of vintage bikes, in my dream I stopped to look and the pile, and the guy loading the van said "we're trashin' 'em, take what you want", now this pile was made of what most of us would consider real "dream bikes" (possibly due to reading cream of the crop thread right before bed?). This dream was one of those uber-realistic ones, and needless to say I was very disappointed when I woke up in my own bed with over a foot of fresh snow to go out and shovel! Any one else have bike dreams?

Well if it was so realistic perhaps it is a premition of things to come, just keep your eyes open and make sure you walk through ALL the cookie cutter neighborhoods around you. Perhaps you will get your dream come true, or else frost bite in your toes.

I find it strange that for all the bike riding I have done, and all the bikes I've had, I can remember only one bike related dream. I was in a big flea market looking for my Tommasini Columbus SL bike someone had stolen. I finally found it behind a stack of boxes all complete, but missing my Brooks 'Professional' that was on it. That was when I woke up screaming NOOOOOOOO!!"

Losing the Brooks was just too much to take in my dream.

Funny you should mention bike dreams...I had one two nights ago. Context is a bit fuzzy now, but the gist was that the left side of the fork on my Hardrock had broken off where it is welded to the steerer. I was discussing with a friend (in the dream) the option of either having it welded, or finding a used fork and adding the cantilevers, or just getting a new fork. Then I woke up.

Ok, what to make of it...take it literally or metaphorically? Well, metaphorically made sense in that I'm looking for a new direction in career (the old steerer is broken, time for a new one to take me in a new or better direction). I also couldn't ignore the literal, so I spent the morning disassembling, inspecting, and regreasing the forks/headsets of both my Hardrock and my 2300.

Uhh...what? This isn't the cycling-for-mental-health-dream-interpretation forum? Oops! Nevermind...

Think I could get my nickel back?

If you find a Nishiki International in that pile, send it over to my dream.
Thanks

oh, man, we think alike. A dream that's not about women is a dream wasted.

so i am not the only one!! one night, i dreampt i was at the playground of my childhood school and there were about 5 or 6 old classic cruisers out in the middle, just laying there. the catch, all of them had either a broken frame or bent fork, something keeping these otherwise perfect bikes from being ridden.

the next, i was expecting my new cruiser to come in from delivery so i had a dream that i was putting my new cruiser together. woke up that morning, went to work and when i got home, my new bike had arrived.

the latest, is that i was at a friend of a friend's house and he had all these c &v bikes in his yard. he say my interest in them and insisted i load them up in my truck and go live happily ever after with them.

I have this dream where I discover that my house has another room built into it. No doors or windows; just a sealed up space. When I figure it out, I break through the wall to see what is in there, and find a whole heap of bikes.

I am so pathetic.

I've only had one nightmare on the topic. '61 Paramount was stolen, abandoned, and by the time I found it, taken over by some CR lister who already had it stripped it of paint for a full resto job, and was having that dented up seattube replaced.

The mess ended when I woke up and found my right foot jammed in the Paramount's rear triangle - the left hanging on the handlebar. (The '61 sits at the end of my bed).

At least I was relieved...
