VeloBase.com - final update of 2008!
I just deployed what should be the final updates to VeloBase.com for this year. A lot of the updates were on the back end in my Admin features. But there is some fixed and changes for ya'll users and browsers as well.
1) Made it easier for me to reset your password if you forget it AND forget the answer to your security question. I've had this happen a couple of times now so made it possible for me to force a new password to be sent to your email without answering the question.
2) Allowed users to update the Email address associated with your velobase.com account. You can change this on the Edit Account page.
3) Misc Admin pages updated, fixed, etc etc, nothing too exciting there. Just stuff I'd left half finished probably over a year ago.
4) Fixed some issues with the Country field on the add and edit screens not having any values and thus clearing out existing values.
5) Added a new color scheme. In addition to the blue scheme I have dubbed "Keeper of the Flame Blue" (the inspiration for the colors came from a Brian Baylis frame) I have added "British Racing Green" as a new color option for the site. All visitors will have a chance of having this new color automatically selected when they visit. Registered users can change the color scheme and image set via the Edit Account page.
6) Winner of the Francophile photo contest (Motobecane headbadge) has been added to the Image Set rotation for the KOF Blue color scheme. It can be selected under France Version 1. France Version 2 is a Peugoet head badge watermark image if that is more to your liking.
There is probably a few other things I am forgetting as I usually do. I will be out of town from tomorrow through the 28th. So hopefully I haven't introduced any major problems with these new changes. (crosses fingers)
Happy Holidays to everyone here in C&V!

I can't believe you are taking the rest of the year off.
Slacker!
Thanks for taking the time to maintain our site, troubling as it's been over the past year.
Come to AZ in the winter, or A2 in the Summer, and I'll treat you like family (the side I still like).

My coworkers and wife are always amazed by how much I work "after work hours" on the site. It's a labor of love I have to admit. I enjoy the challenge and the creative outlet it provides. I know there's probably little chance many people are actually going to go select a specific color scheme and image set, if they even notice it changes (though I do suspect the color changes they would notice, images not so much). But it's fun to work on when I don't want to work on other areas of the site.

It is a wonderful site! If you come up north, I have a few bikes you might like to try out, and are welcome to. I keep missing on work trips down that way...I'll hit one of these days.

The site has become one of my standard, goto research sites for bike parts. It is part of the pantheon that includes Sheldon's site, bikepedia and the various wonderful folks who have miyata/panasonic/schwinn/trek/other catalog scans up on their sites.
The 'interweb' is a wonderful thing. And your effort (and the huge amount of time you spend) is GREATLY appreciated.

thanks Cuda for the time taken to build the databases.
i like the search functions, but be aware that the visual search index page aspx links don't load in Firefox 3 on the Mac. (i only see them as unlinked images.)

And don't forget (or fail to notice) that there are two modes which you can view search results. The tabular text only version and a visual mode which displays the first photo of each item in the list.
I'm packing up for my flight to L.A. for the holidays. I will have computer access so I'll drop in from time to time, but that'll be spotty at best. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Safely landed in LA (now up in Woodland Hills at my inlaw's). No bike with me this trip, and probably no time to ride one if I had managed to arrange to borrow one as I had last trip out here for Thanksgiving of last year. (The trip where I first rode a carbon frame and ended up buying one shortly after my return home as an upgrade for the aluminum modern frame I had been using on wet and/or fast rides.)

You do the same Oldpeddaller.
btw, if someone would test the "Add Comment" feature of the site for me if they have something to add. I've had a few reports of the new Add Comment box acting up on certain browsers and any feedback would be helpful.

Ok, I lied, last update was pushed this morning. Discovered that I had indeed broken the Register New User page. (whoops!) Also tweaked the colors on the new color scheme a little. Otherwise, it was an uneventful update.

You should have added the video of Brooks manufacturer facilities. There are 2 parts.
