Not built up yet, of course, and some pictures when the daughter & camera return home.

I will say one thing for sure, that jrrestore's decals look great on the completed frame.

The 1/2 project: a 1983 Trek 600. The head tube is now teal, the rest of the frame will be pewter. I needed a couple coats of primer/surfacer to build up & cover some rust pits, and I ran out of daylight before I could apply the second color.

Now for the completed one. Here are some before, as purchased, pics:

I give up, what is it, besides a little creepy? Definitely could use a prep and respray.

Steerer tube, I think.

Ha! I just thought it was an erroneously placed photo. I suppose I missed some other thread detailing the trials and tribulations of removing the stem from the steerer tube?

No stem. Just looked like the fork had been stored in mud. I was surprised to find pretty much a full set of threads after lots of naval jelly and extensive wire brushing.

Nice pics. Love the Guerciotti frame and chrome fork. The teal and pewter paint combo on the Trek sounds cool. I'd like to see some pics of it when you're finished.

Dont you just love the engravings on semi-sloping chrome fork crowns. Its beautiful.

Nice job! I thought the steerer tube was a heap of rust, glad to hear it was mostly mud... What type of paint was used for the respray?

I was wondering that myself. Enquiring minds want to know, spray bomb or professional?

My fourth bike using the compressor and my old 80's spray gun technology. Sherwin-Williams Dimension basecoat/clearcoat system.

And it looks much better than it appears in those pics under the flourescent lighting. I'm taking most of them down until I can repost in better light

But how do you paint a 1/2 Saturday?
