Hey, he's shooting video because he does not have time to "write copy" for the ad. How's he going to spare a few moments to clean a bike. You followin' me camera guy?

I urge everybody to explore some of the other video offerings at the bottom of the ad. I've only just scratched the surface, but the one I watched was quite touching. All about coming back to the family bike business after the disillusionment of aircraft mechanicing and tool and die making (no wonder those things are starting to fall out of the sky lately). And why you should by a Park bike stand.

You can tell by the long dead-eye pauses in relating that tale he was really broken up, or forgot what he was going to say, or was about to attack.

Yikes! Suck it camera guy.

"The original alloy handlebar! The original alloy brake hood...uh, brake hoods."

"1975...right around the Bicentennial time..."

Bicentennial time? Put an eagle at the start and end of his video, and you'll have one of those dad-blasted Bicentennial Moments.

He had me when he explained what a deal I'd be getting on those tires. 80 installed at his shop! I'm thinking of bidding just so I can drive out Long Island and meet this joker!

If only it diced, sliced and made julienne fries, well I would be all over that bike. It should come with a saddle bag that is packing a Pocket Fisherman.

Reminds me of the week one summer when I barked a carnival booth called "Whack The Frog!" I pulled in more money than any other barker: "Step right up! Show the Little Lady you're a REAL Man! Whack the FROG!"

And I never did that again.

I think the guy is great. Anybody trying something different to move a bike is fine by me - I don't think any of his information was misleading or harmful.

The more the merrier!

This thread was titled "Sham Wow." Do some research on the "Sham Wow" guy - he's an actor, who got into Sham Wow to raise some money. He's made a mint.

Times are tough and hooray for guys trying to make a buck with a bit of flash...

Bikes: I just ride them, they own me.

I wonder if he takes trade-ins?

His style comes off as a little cheesy (and a little bit uninformed about his product), but he's trying to make a sales pitch. His ad provides an honest description of the bike; that's a lot more than can be said for some of the ads out there. Plus, it's innovative-- the first time I've seen a Youtube ad on eBay.

I am gonna start at the back and work my way forward, not gonna right anything down, these are the handlebars.

That was sheer genius right there.

I have been saying it like this dee ah comp, but maybe Ohioans are saying it wrong. I get a kick out of being told we have an accent when we travel to the likes Canada.

Anyways, yeah I agree the guy is trying to make a buck and is not really misleading.....but it's still hillarious! There is a guy that try sells fitness tapes on TV, John Basedow. He is fit and all, but his commercials are seriously funny and they are not supposed to be.

The guy just needs a new script:

Hi friends, I'm Rip of Rip Oafs fine vintage bicycles, here in the city of Encino.
Home of the World class Encino Velodrome.

Friends, let me show you this fine Nishiki International being shown on your screen now.
Notice the smiling Maes bend bars, the comfort levers, so you can more easily examine the fine scenery down at the beach bike path prancing in front of you.

Notice the clean shaven gum walls, folks, here at Rip's I want to tell you we believe in you.

Click the Paypal option and we will send this fantastic bike right now to you by uncommon carrier.
all for 96 easy monthly payments of $29.95. An when you try to cancel, we will just come on over and repo the bike and your wide screen TV....

Or you can come on down to here in the sultry city of Encino, where we will put it to you.
