I think the bike boom-era ones had cotterless stronglight cranksets.

The way i see it, if someone is trying to sell you a Peugeot with cottered cranks and claiming its a PX-10, It isn't.
Although I'm sure in some market, at some time, A PX-10 variant had cottered cranks.
And starting in the 70s you could order custom built PX-10s from a shop. If you requested I am sure they would put some cotters in your cranks.

Ok, how about this: Cotterless aluminum cranks became accepted slowly. Racing used steel cottered cranks through the 50s and perhaps into the '60s. The Peugeot competition bicycle that we most commonly know as the PX-10 and especially the PX-10E evolved from earlier versions that might date pack to the pre-cotterless days, but perhaps under a slightly different designation, and with the French racing gear of the day.
So is this enough of a technicality? Do I win?

Dirtdrop beat you to it....but yes, you are correct. As far as I can tell it was cottered in '57, possibly cottered in '59 (the pictures fuzzy) and cotterless in '61.
'57 = PLX10 Vitus tubes
'59 = PHX10 Reynolds tubes
'61 = PX10 Reynolds tubes

The reason I asked is because there was a Peugeot on CL for a week. The seller didn't mention what model but the Peugeot in the picture had chrome stays and fork. The seller also mentioned the cottered crank was bent. Anyway the ad is gone so I assumed it is sold. Not that I have the extra $150 and the room for another bike, but just want to know if it was a PX10.
