Do not contact this woman about this bike. She is a little pathetic, and scared out of her mind. So far I have been reported to Yahoo, CL, and her local PD for using a figure of speach. I was also informed that her brother is a lawyer. So after two attempts at trying to apologize, which only heightened her hysteria, I gave up and let it go. You never know who you're going to meet on the internet, and this woman is the extreme case in point.,,,,BD

I've been tempted to call on this one. If it were real, it wouldn't still be available? Too good to be true?
Here is a new one:

This is a retro road bike. I have a fixed gear hub set that will come with it for free. IT's in excellent condition, i am moving so i need to get it off my hands into a loving home.
303-330-3031 ask for Tori.
Called the guy literally 6 minutes after the ad hit. He sounded pissed and stated "Sir, this bike is NOT for sale". I explained to him that then someone had placed an ad in CL for his bike and he might want to check it out.

I made the fatal flaw of saying they should be "shot in the head", not knowing they were on the edge already. It was taken completely literal, like I was threateniing to physically come to their home and shoot them for styling a bicycle in a completely destructive manner. She also said Falcons were not rare or collectible, probably her carbon peddling LBS's doing. "Oh that old thing, it's a piece of junk?" I will pick my words more carefully next time for sure, until I know who I am dealing with. She was dishing it out pretty well though, going on a rant about the vulgarity of the internet, and how low of an individual I was, etc. It was like throwing a match into a fireworks stand, that's as close I could come to explaining the effect.,,,,BD

I hope he mis-typed and put an extra 0 in there. A more effective way to reduce emails would be removing the email option, though I don't think he needs to worry much about anyone responding. Personally, I think he's two zeros too high for what 3spds SHOULD be worth.

This thing constantly shows up on NY CL. They were about $400 new. A large frame is one thing in it's favor.
1998 Specialized Hard Rock Mountain Bike - Needs MAJOR Work!!! - $50 (Chappaqua)

I'm selling this 1998 Specialized Hard Rock mountain bike I purchased brand new in 1998. The price is $50, firm. This bike has served me well over the years. Unfortunately, I have a very small living space so I had to leave the bike outside for the last 2 years. With the exposure to the weather and elements this bike has deteriorated significantly and now requires major work to get it into riding condition. Everything on the bike is original. However, most of the working parts will have to be replaced. This is an excellent bike for someone who likes to work on bikes and knows what they are doing. I don't know much about bikes so I wouldn't know where to begin with all the repairs it needs. The bike has a 23" frame which is most suitable for someone who's 6' 2" or taller. I'm 6'4" and this was a perfect size for me.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about the bike. As far as some of the major work needed is concerned I've listed them here for your reference:
1. Chain is completely rusted. Mostly likely requires new chain.
2. Gears are close to being completely useless. This bike has 21 gears but the last time I rode it (like 6 months ago) only like 7 of the gears worked.
3. Gear apparatus on the rear wheel and pedals have rusted. Looks salvageable though.
4. The brakes are the original and will most likely have to be replaced.
5. Tires are flat but there are no holes. Just that I haven't ridden it in a long time and I don't have a pump anymore.

Well, apparently, it could be any combination adding up to "seven". Seven is the critical number, but you must first take in consideration the alignment of the planets. The buyer should also to do a tarot reading to determine the chances of reaching a ripe old age prior to riding the bike, since it apparently doesn't have functioning brakes. Wonder what that seller will spend the $50 on

Can I beat this person with a Silca frame pump?
Falcon Re-Painted Road Bike - $100 (Onalaska, WI)
"I spray painted this old Falcon bike a sky blue with some hints of lavender. There are some white clouds as well. The rims are spray painted blaze orange to ensure visibility on the road. Brand new seat, tires, back breaker pads, handle bar wrap, and chain. I am 5'4" an it is too tall for me. I have to stand on a curb to get in it. I paid $60 for the tires, $12 for the handle bar wrap and $25 for the seat. Plus spray paint, which isn't that much."
