Eh, that's just extra butting. He should charge more for the custom butted top tube.

Well if the fact that the entire bike including components was painted blue and has clouds when there was no way she came close to fitting it was any indication...I'm not surprised she belongs in a mental ward.

I've been tempted to call on this one. If it were real, it wouldn't still be available? Too good to be true?

This is a retro road bike. I have a fixed gear hub set that will come with it for free. IT's in excellent condition, i am moving so i need to get it off my hands into a loving home.

Called the guy literally 6 minutes after the ad hit. He sounded pissed and stated "Sir, this bike is NOT for sale". I explained to him that then someone had placed an ad in CL for his bike and he might want to check it out.

I hope he mis-typed and put an extra 0 in there. A more effective way to reduce emails would be removing the email option, though I don't think he needs to worry much about anyone responding. Personally, I think he's two zeros too high for what 3spds SHOULD be worth.

This thing constantly shows up on NY CL. They were about $400 new. A large frame is one thing in it's favor.

1998 Specialized Hard Rock Mountain Bike - Needs MAJOR Work!!! - $50 (Chappaqua)

I'm selling this 1998 Specialized Hard Rock mountain bike I purchased brand new in 1998. The price is $50, firm. This bike has served me well over the years. Unfortunately, I have a very small living space so I had to leave the bike outside for the last 2 years. With the exposure to the weather and elements this bike has deteriorated significantly and now requires major work to get it into riding condition. Everything on the bike is original. However, most of the working parts will have to be replaced. This is an excellent bike for someone who likes to work on bikes and knows what they are doing. I don't know much about bikes so I wouldn't know where to begin with all the repairs it needs. The bike has a 23" frame which is most suitable for someone who's 6' 2" or taller. I'm 6'4" and this was a perfect size for me.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about the bike. As far as some of the major work needed is concerned I've listed them here for your reference:

1. Chain is completely rusted. Mostly likely requires new chain.
2. Gears are close to being completely useless. This bike has 21 gears but the last time I rode it (like 6 months ago) only like 7 of the gears worked.
3. Gear apparatus on the rear wheel and pedals have rusted. Looks salvageable though.
4. The brakes are the original and will most likely have to be replaced.
5. Tires are flat but there are no holes. Just that I haven't ridden it in a long time and I don't have a pump anymore.

Well, apparently, it could be any combination adding up to "seven". Seven is the critical number, but you must first take in consideration the alignment of the planets. The buyer should also to do a tarot reading to determine the chances of reaching a ripe old age prior to riding the bike, since it apparently doesn't have functioning brakes. Wonder what that seller will spend the $50 on

Brand new seat, tires, back breaker pads, handle bar wrap, and chain. I am 5'4" an it is too tall for me. I have to stand on a curb to get in it.
