I think I'll have to zip-it on the Stoker jokes :P
The box looks well made, although I would have done a single crank build.

"We hit 28 mph on the bike and it was really stable."

At first this seemed really terrifying but then I realized it's basically a trail-a-bike with an off-nominal hitch geometry.

Tandem bike

Now that is WILD!!!
It might be worth $75 for a "test ride".

I hope the coupling is secure. Perhaps this would be an application for a "through axle" skewer.

Whew, that was cut short.

Perhaps give it to your 10 yr old when you give him the first road bike... 3 sizes too large, hoping he will grow into it.

Actually, I have the seat post slammed to the lowest possible position on my Bike Friday... that might be perfect :)

Here is my Bike Friday Seatpost setup.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=455145

That post would be just PERFECT.

If anybody taller than me wanted to borrow the bike, I could say... sorry, I can't put the seat up any higher.
And if anybody shorter than me wanted to borrow the bike, I could say... sorry, I can't put the seat down any lower.

:innocent:

Another scolding... presumably from a buyer not a seller

Re....Value of used bicycles,,,overpriced!!!

why in the world would anyone pay close to 1k for a 7 plus year old mid grade road bike........so many posts on this site do not understand the real value of these outdated used machines.......sorry folks but specialized....cannondale.....trek......fuji.....nothing spectacular here...... they depreciate the moment you walk out of the overpriced retailer to begin with........no low balling......ha ha ha... and you wonder why your bike just sits....and sits.......as you gradually lower your price......here is a great solution for you delusional overweight spandex team kit wearing uninformed..
if you search the old interweb you will find a few outlets that will give you a CLUE as to what the bike is actually worth,,,,,,,
enjoy the wind in your face fellow mashers

I'm not a forensic crash analyst but that actually does look like crash damage to me. It's hard to get deep scratches on the tips and sides of levers just by normal use. It's actually surprising how durable higher end stuff is. I've dumped the bike a few times and I always expect to see a trail of broken components behind me and all that's been done is a few scratches on the levers and the derailleur cage.

And while I'm on the subject, why does the drive train seem to hit the pavement? Is it because North Americans are turning right frequently or being confronted with traffic from the left? In other words are English and Australian riders putting their bikes down on the left side in an accident? Can someone please do their Engineering Thesis on this?

WHEW!!!!

But, I know the feeling with seeing the same bikes over and over again.

The B-U-T-Ful bike has been posted and reposted for many months now. ... BUTT??? Perhaps the owner needs to look up Beauty????
http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...l#post17469591
(now here: LeMond Poprad Road Bike--B-U-T-ful)

Of course, the good road bikes are few and far between around here, and I have more than I need... so my price goals are set pretty low :P
Fewer Bob's bikes are being listed now, so perhaps some sold. And truthfully, holding out for an extra $100 isn't insignificant, especially on selling several bikes.

At the same time... that B-U-T-Ful bike is now a year older, and still unsold. Wait a few decades, and it might become "vintage".

The listing apparently did change before the end of the auction.

I'm not sure, but I never knew quill stems could be that long. Craigslist, obviously.

SR Swan. However, that one might even be set above the minimum insertion mark.

The Nitto Technomic series of stems were equally tall and looked like an otherwise conventional quill stem.

Clean, leather helmet, leather saddle, and passable tires. I've seen much worse listed at higher prices. It's got the cool slim simplex skewers - those can go for some bucks on Ebay.
