So, what is in the tank?

That "tank" is what's known as a boost bottle, an empty canister that is connected by a hose to the engine's intake passage. It's a popular modification that allegedly makes more power but in truth only serves to make money for the dude who sells them.

He's quoting the speed in km/hr, but converting to high 40's mph, still a stretch.

The suspension fork puzzled me, but this appears to be a 26" to 700c conversion (somewhat like I did with my litespeed). Note the canti pegs visible in a couple of the photos.

It looks like a nice conversion, but I'm surprised the seller doesn't mention it.

When I first saw listing the other night.Built for speed,I kind of laughed.I did not see BONTRAGER TITANIUM off to the right until the next day.
So this could be A early built Bontrager titanium frame or I have no idea?Has two-piece seat stays that Bontrager used on his early frames and looks like a touring or road bike frame..
Bontrager made mostly light mountain bike steel and Ti frames .Kind of interesting to find out what year and model frame this is.I know very little
of Ti and Bontrager frames.

I've ridden some non suspension "26 inch" bikes that have been converted to a front fork like that. It always feels like the center of the steering is balancing on a thread, with a tendency to pull to one side or the other when you enter a turn. You pretty much have to force it back to center when you're done turning. Definitely not something I would spend money to do to one of my bikes. Add that to already funky 700 wheels on a 26 inch wheeled bike handling, and I'd be willing to bet that riding that "hybrid" is not a pleasurable experience. I momentarily converted an MB-5 to 700, or tried to. I rode it around the yard once, and gave up on it. It was spooky with the higher than normal BB.,,,,BD

Tiny bike to quit job

So I am looking to rent a tiny bike to quit a job. I want to roll in there smoking a blunt and or vape pin and laugh sample food and say **** off..... $50 shouldn't take that long. Probably won't call the cops on me cuz they all love and respect me. They will just ask me to leave. We could record it. It would become a YouTube sensation. Lol. Willing to leave collateral for bike. I don't want it.... I want quit in glory.

Our Giant rep told me they changed the name of the bike to Yukon in 1992 because the name turned people off... My girlfriend (who is now my wife) actually wanted one of these because of the name. We only sold a couple of these in our shop. She loved her big purple Butt bike...

Last year I found a rough one at a local co-op and built it up for her as a Valentines day gift. (I still had most of the accessories from her old bike)

If you're talking about the Bontrager Ti Lite MTB, it came stock with a suspension fork.
1997 Bontrager Ti Lite - New and Used Bike Value

Converting to 700c would raise it slightly, but not too much, the 700c tire would be less than 1" larger in diameter, or maybe 1/2" in radius (considering using smaller tires).

I'm a bit surprised it hasn't sold as $500 or $600 for Titanium anything isn't a bad deal.

That is a fairly large frame for a MTB, and one gets a pretty high stack height with the suspension fork (presumably stock), and tall head tube. That may well be the limiting factor, as I wouldn't put anybody less than 6'+ on the bike.

Portland????

So as I understand it, the guy wants to borrow a bike
To ride into his office building smoking a bong (probably legal in Oregon)... ummm, except for no-smoking indoors regulations.
And yell obscenities at his boss.

And probably will get kicked out.
Hopefully the bike won't get confiscated.

Perhaps I should write to him and ask if he wants to borrow a Bike Friday

Bike Friday would be too "normal" for what he has planned. One of these would do better.

There is the mini runt that pops up for sale every once in a while. Certainly it would suffice as a compact, but ridable bike.

I am always surprised when someone gives a very precise date/year on a bike that old, especially without a model.

Here are the 1951 and 1958 catalogs.
Raleigh Bicycle Catalog for 1951
Raleigh Bicycle Catalog for 1958

I didn't realize they made such a variety of the basic 3-speeds.

Oh, they did offer Reynolds 531 models with the Raleigh Lenton and Raleigh Clubman bikes.

I'm still guessing a basic 3-speed, with the main difference being top bar vs step-through.

Most old Raleigh 3-speeds seem to be around $100. I could imagine a pristine one for maybe $200???

Maybe this is just another fat finger ad... and the seller intended to write $20.00
