It could be an Amazing Deal.

"Clasp in Pedals"?

Where is the cassette? Chain? Anything else the seller has forgotten?

Of course, it could also be STOLEN.

I think I saw those, or similar brakes a while ago.

They are pretty cool, designed to rotate the pads when applying the levers, and thus always keep the pads parallel to the rim.

But, not $1000 cool.

Is the XTR-M970 the last of that product line before going to disc? There are quite a few M950 brakes for a lot less.

I've had two fun exchanges the last 24 hours with prospective buyers for a bike I'm selling.

One of them sent me an urgent series of emails last night - seven of them in half an hour, most of them all caps. Some of them did not wait for replies from me. We arranged to meet at 1 today. He flaked.

The other one sent me an email at 7:30 last night asking to see it immediately if possible because he needed to drive to Lincoln, some distance away.. I didn't respond soon enough. But he stayed on the hook. He is telling me a lot about himself in the process - his dad moved in with his brother in Lincoln, his Dad's birthday is tomorrow, he might or might not see the bike depending on whether he goes to the party and when he gets off work, etc.

Aside from the complete description of a classic English 3-speed missing its fenders, when was the last time you saw a fenderless bike still with its fender stays intact? Not a bad price, though.

I think that bike may well be new production.

Still, a nice find.

Dude's been trying to get actual money for this thing since... errr... probably since before it was "vintage". Anybody else remember these things? I wish I didn't. They seemed so cool at the time; we had no idea how badly they sucked compared to today's cheapest eBay light. I think I still have one or two of these jammed in a basement box-o'-crap, free to anyone who wants one for a "L'Eroica Wisely Forgotten Technology" build....

https://madison.craigslist.org/bop/d...872994943.html

Vintage Schwinn light made in France - $10 (Cottage Grove)

Light does not turn on, may need a battery, did not want dismantle.
Sold as is

I don't know what that has to do with danger, but those look bad-azz. When it's time for me to replace some rotors, I'll probably buy a pair

Yes, you will occasionally see a De Rosa for sale that doesn't look right, blocky logo.

Odd...

When I try to go to:
www.biciclettederosa.com as listed on the right seatstay, I get site not found.

When I go to:
www.biciclettederosa.it
It redirects me to www.derosa.it (which is the typical heart DeRosa).

The logo on the chainguard and seattube is the same from the website above, but made pink.

I'm not seeing much info about this kid's bike on the web. My guess is it is not actually Italian made, but Asian made. And, someone decided it would be a cute idea to make girl's bikes using the "other De Rosa" markings. But, perhaps they were shut down for trademark infringement, or both companies re-merged at some point.

Somebody needs to tell the seller -- um, you're taking the whole "vintage" thing a LITTLE too far when you post PHOTOS from 1980. Since you've been sleeping, they invented digital photography.....

https://madison.craigslist.org/bik/d...876316682.html

Appel Custom Bike c.1980 - $600 (Oshkosh, WI)

photos are c.1980.

('Course, somebody should also clue him in that the Valley has its own CL, but I digress.....)
