What would you do?
I got a middle to late 80's Centurion Iron Man Dave Scott 14 speed for doing some work to restore another of the same line. It was used as a parts bike to fix the other bike. The frame is in very good shape and a pity that the paint is too. It is a horrid white frame with purple at or near the lugs (so 80's). I want to know what you all would think about "taking it out of stock".

Leave the paint stock. Do not Drew the bike. Change components as you see fit for your likes (keep the old parts handy). These Centurions are getting a following out there and seem to be going up in value nicely.

Indeed, a lot of people appreciate the Centurion Dave Scotts. A lot of us even like the interesting paint schemes .

Those Dave Scotts are pretty nice riding frames. I've only spent a few minutes on one that was a size or 3 too small for me, but all the same it felt pretty quick (the small frame may have had something to do with that, but all the same). The white / purple, if in good shape, is worth more intact than it would be ever redone in anything else most likely.

Actually I was thinking about putting on TT bars and fresh rims and cleaning the thing up. I have seen Dave Scotts in dark/light grey and liked those scemes. I wish you guys could see the paint. IT just seems "Flock of Seagulls" to me.

Well the paint is really in great condition. And I was at a loss for what you do with tange frames to remove paint.

mine's the bike with the cute toys as you say
you know, i initially thought of changing the paint, but now i love it and so does everyone else i should add.
if you don't like it, maybe sell it? (there are at least 2 centurion enthusiasts/collectors on this forum). the bike's worth several hundred dollars, depending on condition. then you can buy something in a paint scheme that's more you.
