I have torched off bosses on an 80's araya. First fixed gear and the frame had a dented top tube. Still have the frame and ride it often. I may rebraze on new bosses someday but right now it works.

Bikes: Seriously downsizing.
I don't consider drilling a frame/fork for recessed brake mounts as 'Drew-ness'.
Whacking off a DR mount and braze-ons, yes.

I hacked off all the brazings on my 82 Pinarello record, and sprayed over the metallic blue paintwork with grey primer.
No, hang on. That was just a nightmare I had after too many Grolsches. Whew!

Good to know, thanks. Also, Nova Cycles is local.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "drew" but a friend gave me his old Italian club racer frame (unknown provenance; already 3rd hand by the time I got it -- likely late 60s - early 70s production) after the bottom bracket shell cracked all the way around the seat tube. I stuck it in my closet and forgot about it for a few years. Then some low-life swiped my commuter bike and I needed a replacement, so I dragged the frame out of the closet, sweated the old BB shell off and brazed in a replacement. As long as I was at it, I decided to add a set of water bottle mounts and brake cable guides -- under the down tube and on the fork for a set of Maillard drum brake hubs I planned on using. Shot a coat of flat white primer onto it and built it up. I've been riding it ever since -- over 20 years now.

Long-point lugs with windows (Prugnant?):

Seat lug, with generous application of anti-sleaze:

Campy 1010 dropouts:

Side view of fork, showing brake cable guide braze-on:

The replacement bottom bracket shell:

Nice triple crank, Ofmega pedals, rear brake cable routed under down tube to rear drum brake:

Rear drum brake, showing cable routing along chain stay:

The bike is intentionally filthy and crude. Urban camouflage, ya know.

I used it because it has deeper sockets than other BB shells, allowing more of the tube to be brazed. I considered filling the TREK panel with brass and filing it smooth but decided it was too much bother.

FYI, I'm pretty sure those are Bocama long point lugs. Nice save from the junkyard.
Edit: Actually, the more I look at them they may not be Bocama. If they are they should have BCM stamped in the front. Sometimes the C is hard to make out.

It is not the most glam bike out there, but it is just a sweet ride. Sugino XD cranks, cheap flatbars, whatever v-brake I had laying around, Fujita saddle, cheapest freewheel wheels money can buy (respaced and redished for chainline), Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires, KMC stainless chain. Cheap plastic fenders. I got the stem podercoated the same as the frame. And my signature leather Soviet ammo bag as a seatbag. The paint does not show up well in the pic, but it is jet black with lots of sparkles. I get lots of comments on the paint.
I have a better wheelset for it, but might just run these until they croak.
I bought or traded the frame from someone here on BF a few years ago, but cannot remember who it was. It was grey with red lettering with a fair bit of surface rust when I got it. Anyone remember if I got it from you?
I love this bike.

Had downtube shifter bosses, rear derailleur cable stop, and pump peg added and rear brake bridge modified for recessed bolt on my early 80's Puch Luzern. Also had it repainted emerald green metallic because I never liked the original black. Have never regretted it a bit. It's still my favorite bike in my fleet and in my opinion a very beautiful and fun to ride bike.

No, no BCM. I have no idea who made it. It was originally Italian thread, and it had a Campy Gran Sport BB and headset installed when I got it. The original BB shell was a bulge-formed unit; nothing too notable. The frame was chromed under bronze-color paint, but a lot of the chroming was flaking off by the time it got to me. No head badge or decals.
