Stem shifters, nutted rear axle, no frame derailleur hanger, all signs of low end. Are the rims alloy or steel?

Not sure what the rims are - the seller is calling it an International, but the lugwork wasn't consistent. I just noticed the stem shifters...so it is low end. I will have to out the seller on CL - he is asking $265.

Thats a high price for a bike with stem shifters, no RD frame hanger, and turkey levers. I would ask seller how he determined value and what is the frame made out of (and it better have a decal to support it, otherwise it is gas pipe).

Agreed. But do I see a Weinmann concave rim on the rear wheel, and a first generation Deore touring derailleur? Someone did some upgrades....

Well, the Weinmann rims might be Swiss, and the Deore derailleur is Japanese. Perhaps that's what the seller meant by "international."

It's a Raleigh Record, the entry level bike below the Gran Prix. The frame is 20-30 Hi-tensile steel and it was manufactured by Raleigh and not by Carlton at Worksop. Decent, adequate but not the high end stuff.
