1979 Raleigh Team Professional 57cm
[h=2]1979 Raleigh Team Professional 57cm - $1500 (jamaica Plain)[/h]
© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap
(google map) (yahoo map)
condition: excellent
Hello,
I'm selling my 57cm 1979 Raleigh Team Professional in Excellent condition. The bike was practically new old stock when I first got it 4 years ago, and I've kept it in great shape since, only putting around 2000 miles on it. The bike is made from Reynolds 531 tubing, known as the best steel ever used on bicycle frames, and comes with largely Campagnolo Super Record components. The wheelset is composed of Campy super record hubs laced to French Mavic tubular rims, and Continental tyres, and the ride is a joy. The saddle is a Selle Concor in black suede (seat post not pictured). The brake levers are Campy super record, "drillium" drilled-out for aerodynamics and weight saving; a pretty cool relic from the 1970s where that sort of thing was common. This bike was the height of road racing technology in 1979, and is on the whole a completely original, time-machine piece. Its freshly cleaned, lubed, and ready to ride. I'm selling it because I'm buying Ti. If you have any questions please ask. I would like $1500 for it but please make a reasonable offer.
Breakdown:
Frame / Size / Year:
Raleigh Professional/57CM/1979
Handlebars / Stem:
Cinelli 64-42/Cinelli 1A
Fork / Headset:
Raleigh 531/Specialized
Front Wheel / Hub / Rim / Tire:
Campagnolo Record Low Flange/Mavic Tubular
Rear Wheel / Hub / Rim / Tire:
Campagnolo Record Low Flange/Mavic Tubular
Crankset / Bottom Bracket:
Campagnolo Super Record/ Campagnolo Nuovo Record
Saddle:
Selle Suede Turbo
Pedals / Chain:
Campagnolo Super Record/Regina
Shifters / Derailers:
Campagnolo Nuovo Record/Campagnolo Super Record (front)/Campagnolo Nuovo Record (rear)
Brakes / Brake Levers:
Campagnolo Super Record/Campagnolo Super Record
Gearing / Chainring / Misc.:
Benotto Handlebar Tape/NOS Wolber Water Bottle/Christophe Toe Clips and Straps
Notes:
Bought as an almost NOS frame with a few miles under its belt, I built this frame up to be a practical early '80s time machine that can be used everyday. Still need a Campy SR rear derailer. The current rims work well for everyday use.
As a note to Raleigh Team enthusiasts, this is not the SB serial but a 'W' made in 1979.

It is a Team Z replica. There are lugged steel (mostly Billato built), Ti (Merlin), and carbon (Carbonframes/Calfee) versions all badged as Lemond. All very nice.

I definitely feel like the bike I saw had more neon colors and not blue. Maybe I'm losing my mind.

Eddy Merckx Columbus road bike 57cm
[h=2]Eddy Merckx Columbus road bike 57cm - $800 (Bedford)[/h]
condition: good
make / manufacturer: Eddy Merckx
This is a Columbus SL 57cm frame, built at the beginning of Eddy Merckx production when they were made under the supervision of DeRosa. This bike has the flat top fork crown like older DeRosas. It is approximately 1983 AFAICT.
It was completely restored and repainted in 2012 by HotTubes, cold set to accept modern hubs and built with Campagnolo Centaur 10 speed. Mavic Wheels, rear is Record hub. Clement LGG tires. Ritchey stem/post/bars. 53x39 with 175mm arms. Cassette is 13-26. Black Chris King threaded headset. Specialized Toupe saddle.
It has the original threaded fork with quill stem converter, but you could switch to a traditional quill stem to be more retro correct. I put about 5300 miles on this bike so there are minor nicks here and there but really nice looking overall. Bike gets a lots of comments. This was a fun project for me but I am on to the next one.

RRB Custom touring frame & fork 54cm - $265 (Northbrook) < >
condition: good
Rare chance to own a hand-made classic.
Frame and fork only, NOT a complete bike. Serial number under #200 .
RRB Custom touring frame & fork. Hand-built and silver-soldered by one of the best in the business. Frame has campy dropouts with fender eyelets, relaxed geometry, and long chain stays for a comfy ride. Fastback seat stay with integrated threaded clamp. Paint is rough - some bubbling - some scratches. No dents, though.
Geometry:
seat tube = 54cm center-to-top
top tube = 54cm center-to-center
chain stays = 46cm
10.5cm head tube
99.5cm wheelbase
126mm rear triangle.
Front fork is 1" threaded with box crown, campy dropouts front and rear with fender eyelets.
I cannot measure the standover height, but it has a level, not sloping, top tube.
Frame includes braze-ons for the following: top tube cable guides; 3 water bottle mounts (seat tube + down tube + underneath down tube); pump peg; cable guides under bottom bracket; down tube shifter bosses; fender mounts at top of on chain stays.
This is for the frame and fork only - this is NOT a complete bike. You can have it repainted in the color of your choice, and then have a perfect frame for a fraction of a new one.
Cash and local pickup only. I'll immediately remove this ad the moment this bike is sold, so please don't e-mail asking if it is available. I am happy to answer specific questions and will respond to reasonable offers.

Posting this for the cool red, white, and blue paint job and not the price (but hey: it sure beats $2999: Budget Bicycle Center - Vintage 1991 Schwinn Paramount Series 90 PDG Mountain Bike 20" Bicycle Suntour ).
[h=2]Paramount Series 90 PDG - $340 (Plymouth, MN)[/h]Paramount 90 MTB
I bought this new in 1991. Rode lightly for a few years - now it sits. Needs air in tires, I am sure the tubes are shot. It has sat in my basement for over 15 years.

What looks to be a very nice Trek in great condition.
Trek 10 speed
[h=2]Trek 10 speed - $175 (Zion Crossroads)[/h]
Older Trek 10 speed in excellent condition. This is a pre-metric bike, build circa 1982. 22.5 inches (both the top tube and the down tube are this dimension). "022 Ishiwata CR MO double butted" frame. SunTour deraillieurs. Sunshine quick release hubs. Sakae Custom handlebars. DiaCompe brakes. Rigida 27 inch wheels, made in France. Avocet Condor leather saddle. This is all original equipment and all in excellent condition. Likely model: 510 (just guessing here). I bought this bike from a neighbor, who had not ridden it for a very long time (decades). It has been garage stored for its entire life, so no rust or corrosion. If you're serious about buying it, I am willing to bring it into Charlottesville for your inspection and test ride. I live in Spring Creek at Zion Crossroads, 20 minutes from Charlottesville.

Raleigh USA 23.5", 12-speed bike in good riding condition!
This appears to be a built up 531 Raleigh USA frameset. Rough shape, but maybe worth restoring? I might have jumped on this myself but the kickstand turned me off a bit...

This paint job is straight out of the 1990s. I definitely don't recommend it for any shrinking violet types.
