Someone should totally swoop in on this Specialized Expedition. If someone can facilitate I would be more than happy to take it myself... though I'm in Canada.

https://boulder.craigslist.org/bik/2373336360.html

"1980s Specialized Expedition: A great "bomber," a bit "retro," and a true touring bike.

Size:
63 cm (center of bottom bracket to top of top tube): idea for someone over 6'1" or so.
59 cm top tube (center to center)
80 mm stem
Frame is beautifully lugged, double-butted cro-mo, with all conceivable braze-ons (three water bottle mounts, low-rider front, etc.). Quite simply, this kind of frame is far too expensive to mass-produce
these days and, so, is available now only as custom-built. I think it deserves a paint job, but that's up to the buyer.

Specs:
* Specialized crankset (50-36-25)
* Shimano Deore rear derailleur: almost new
* Shimano Deore front derailleur: vintage, better than new ones, virtually unused
* SunTour New Winner 14-28 freewheel: best freewheel ever made
* Shimano Deore cantilever brakes: new pads
* Simplex retro-friction downtube shifters: a "back-in-the-day" classic--the best
* Campagnolo Record hubs / DT 14g spokes / Gentleman 81 rims (rims are converted from Schraeder to Presta, so one can use either type)
* Specialized headset
* Specialized stem and bars
* Selle San Marco Ergo saddle
* Water bottle and cage
* Blackburn Expedition rack ($45 retail)
* Zefal full fenders ($30 retail)
* Old-school Look pedals. I figure you'll have your own pedals, but OK.
* Everything recently overhauled (hubs, pedals, bottom bracket, headset), plus new cables and housing. In short, the bike is mechanically top-notch (I've been a professional bicycle mechanic for over twenty
years).

$250. I'll deduct $15 if you don't want the pedals. Cash only. If this ad is still posted, the item is still available."

Said I wouldn't post here for a day or two (ha) after the flame festival in my last thread, but here's something that someone here should go buy. Now.

Vintage 1950's his/hers Japanese 3 speeds, in Seattle area, $175 for both. I really, really want to go buy these, but I am not going to. Someone here should. I might even be willing to facilitate for a look at these.

I want them. But I must not have them...

I have to confess I did pay $300 for a bike once but it came with a beautiful Suntour Superbe Pro seatpost that I think I can get $50 for so I tell myself it's only a $250 bike. Good luck with your search.

The local co-op has a big mixte that would be nearly free but it's a gas-pipe Urago with a plain jane white paint job. I'll check on it if you're interested but it's nothing special except for it's size (and French threading).
