Date: 2011-07-14, 12:20PM PDT
Reply to: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/2494254340.html
Name plate on the front says it is a Monarch made in Tiffin Ohio. Frame is cast iron, not rolled steel. Needs tires, a seat cover & paint. Probably worth a lot more fixed up. Am putting up another larger tricycle and a good humor 3 wheel pedal trike as well. Located in Castro Valley, email or call the toy line at 510-886-xxxx, thanks.

Reply to: sale-6h4yt-2485381824@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Basso 52 cm frame and fork, mid 1980's vintage I beleive. Paint is good, it's been ridden, not
crashed. Rides very sweet like good steel always does, no, it's not a 17lb $5000 carbon bikes, but it's like
driving around in an old classic car, it cool, it's fun.

Canpy Nuovo Record Rear deraileur, GS (newer NR Style0 front derailleur, NR Shifters.
Suntour 7 speed freewheel
Campy Gran Sport Brakes, Campagnolo Corsa Record aero brake levers
Cinelli bars 64-40, Cinelly stem 1A 105
Campy Gamma Strada clincher rims with Gipiemme hubs, and DT Spokes
Gip1emme Bottom Bracket, Campy 42-52 Victory 170 cranks
Kalloy seat post, Dirt research Titanium rail saddle
Super Record Headset
New cables, new bar tape
New CNC Machined derailleur pulleys.
Look pedals optional, extra $50.
Wheels are true, tires should have another 500 miles on them.

I found this info on bikeforums.net

https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-236589.html

"I think that a fleet of bikes were purchased by Robert Redford to provide "alternative"
transportation to the inebriated at the Sundance Film Festival ( or SFF for those "in the know").
The fleet was supposedly destroyed after the festival.
You either have a "Festival Replica" (quite rare in their own right) or you have a genuine article
that somehow escaped the crusher."

Nice full-chaincase ladies Raleigh. The guy writes great ads too, check out the other ones he has up on the Fort Collins CL.

1950's Raleigh Ladies Tourist bicycle - $150 (Old Town Fort Collins)

https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/bik/2459169992.html

After an Easy Street at Odell's you will cruise home in the warm summer evening on the bike path with your friends beside you and a stunning three-speed classic cruiser below you. There are a couple of hours of sunlight left as you make your way to an Old Town back porch where the wind is cool enough to keep the mosquitos away and the salmon on the grill is worth a Pale Ale. The evening passes away without notice, and soon the sun has gone, but it's no worry for you because you will click down the integrated, rotary light system that will guide you with a front light and let others see you from behind as you ride home down the wide, tree-lined streets, and this amazing ride will cost you less than the Anthropologie skirt and tank top you look so fabulous wearing. 970-xxx-xxxx

Well...here's another one. Figure this is a worthy bike for a post, plus the ad is great. Heck, I'm tempted to get it just for the brakes!

Classic.Lugged Specialized Stumpjumper Sport - $80 (Old Town Fort Collins)

https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/bik/2462136399.html

I need beer. Half the point of having a project bike is to have something to do while drinking beer, so the Stumpjumper has to go so that Miller can help me live the High Life while I work on one of the other project bikes my wife said I shouldn't have bought with her beer money.
Most people suffer during a recession, but not alcohol makers, nope, they are recession proof because people drink to celebrate a good economy and then they drink to ease a bad economy. My grandfather would say, "A man could make a lot of money in the bootlegging business, if he knew what he were doing". My grandfather says this about everything, but he's broke and so am I, which must mean that we don't know what we're doing -- that's why you get to steal this classic lugged steel Stumpjumper Single Speed Sport from me for $80 or I will trade for a Royal Quiet DeLuxe portable typewriter because that's what Ernest Hemingway used, and because it would be awesome if you had that randomly lying around and wanted to trade it for the quintessential mountain bike. 970-xxx-xxxx

This is pretty cool. With inflation its just about what it sold for originally, and if it is actually serviced like it says it is...

Univega Gran Turismo

Any Univega nerds out there know what year this would be? And what the typical gearing on a bike like that is?

I would really like to be able to look at the geometries of older bikes, but Bikepedia doesn't have that unfortunately.

Free: Raleigh Sports DL-22 frame (Iowa City/Cedar Rapids)

Date: 2011-07-15, 12:13PM CDT
Reply to: sale-neh5k-2495758932@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Raleigh men's frame. It looks like a Sports DL-22 frame, circa 1970s-ish, but I'm not familiar with Raleighs and the serial # continues to elude me. If it is a dl-22, they seem to be a fairly popular bike to restore, so I hope maybe someone can fix it up or use it for parts. It has fenders (but I think the back one might be broken), the Raleigh heron headbadge, and "R" seat post bolt, but no chainguard, seat, or functional brake cables. The paint is chipped and there's some rust, but nothing beyond all hope.

My boyfriend's been badgering me for months to do something with it and now we're moving in two weeks, so it's gotta go. Help this diamond in the rough escape the disapproving glare of my significant other and give it a new home!

I can deliver $5.

Klein aluminum road bike, 12 speed Shimano, Look step-in pedals, Modolo brakes, titanium saddle. Triathlon veteran, approx 1985. Has sat in the garage and is now in need of cleanup. Flat tires and plenty of dust. Worth the trouble if you don't mind doing a bit of work on it.

Yes, it's a 700c. I replaced the wheels with Rhyno Lites a couple years back and recently converted it from drop bars to trekking bars since it gets ridden mostly on the C&O canal trail. The Burley rides like a go-cart whereas my Davidson is like being in a Buick.

As an aside, I bought a ladies bicycle a couple days back and over the course of the conversation I made a comment about not expecting the lugs to be like those on a Paramount. Turns out the guy I bought the bike from is the same one that is selling the Paramount tandem! He thinks is may have been repainted at some point in its life but isn't sure. I'm tempted to give him a call and look at it.
