Looking for a semi matching wheel
I have an 80's road bike that has one (front) Araya 700c 1W rim. I never had the back one as it was stolen, which is why the previous owner sold me the bike. I don't really want to buy a whole new wheel set so I am looking for a back rim that comes close to matching the front. I didn't think I was that picky but I can't find anything that is even a close approximation. Does anybody have any idea what currently available rim (or built up wheel) might look close to what is in the attached images.
Thanks

That Araya is a nice wheel (one of their best) and it would be nice if you could find the rear to match... I have the same issue in that I just bought a front like yours and am now hunting for a complete wheel or rim I can build up.
Maybe I will come across a stash somewhere...

But it is 28 hole (I was hoping for 36, or at least 32) and shipping to Canada for something that size is $$$.
I was hoping to find a new rim that looked close so I could have my LBS order it in, the closest I have found so far is a Velocity Aero which is available is many colours (none really match the 1W though). I will let you know if I find a stash or a better match.

Best bet is to find a donor bike, and borrow a set of vintage wheels off of it.

I'd suggest writing Yellow Jersey...I know they used to have quite the stock of NOS Araya rims...They respond to emails in a flash and have excellent customer service in my experience.

I have been cleaning up and cleaning out my bike space. I just yesterday found an Araya 700c back weel. I have no use for it. Not a suzie hub but the rim looks close to yours. I'll try and post some photos for you wednesday. Trade?
