Has anyone heard of a Ventura?

I found this 10 speed at the transfer station, it looks somewhat better than a standard entry level bike. I've never seen one before, pretty light, Shimano 600 derailleurs bar end shifters etc. It's a Super Le Baron...

I had one pass through my hands (thankfully) just a couple weeks ago, but it was a Mixte. I only wanted to scrounge a few parts off it and gave the rest away: it was enormously heavy.Yours looks like a much classier and svelte model (double butted steel pipe!)and some good components, too. But my impression is it's just another mass-produced Japanese bike-boomer, yours still has all it's CPSC reflectors and "safety levers" so maybe around 1974(?).

Taiwanese manufacturer, mid-range model from late 1970s. Not great workmanship but love the long point lugs.

Edit: Upon further scrutiny, I'll narrow this down. It's got the Shimano 600 and 60 (or 50) derailleurs which came out in 1975, but that's not the 1975 version on the rear. The 50 & 60 front derailleurs had been discontinued by 1977, but Ventura still may have had some stock. Best guess would be 1976 or 1977.

Is that a mechanical odometer on the right front drop?

I sorta like it. Probably not worth big money but could be a nice fun bike and / or strip for the salable parts. It even looks like my size.

I could throw the parts on a vintage Pinarello frame I have in the cellar.
