Broken Bridgestone -- what should I do?
Hey guys,
Firstly: Awesome Forum -- im hooked and ive only been a member for a few days.
Secondly, I've just recently had a bit of an accident with my beloved road bike -- It was an old bridgestone, that I bought for about 60$ and have now noticed that my fork is twisted. I guess, this just means that I have to at least replace that, or the entire frame all together. I don't really know much as to what I should be doing, in terms of the rebuild; should I just junk it, bite the bullet, and fork over some (ridiculous amounts of) cash for a used specialized allez or something? or should I find me a new frameset, and fix up my current bike.
Currently I've been eyeing an old nishiki riviera GT roadframe for about 100$ but i think that price is a little too steep.
any ways, all the help is appreciated

Take it to a bike shop and see if the fork can be straightened (many can) and see if there is other frame damage (which would be the end of it most likely).
If looking for a replacement, just find a good cromoly frame from that era, preferably Japanese. But on the other hand, if you don't know what you are doing, it would be very costly to pay a shop to make the transfer. In that case, sell the bike as is and find another good bike (this is if fork cannot be repaired).

There is no substitute for looking at the frame in person to see if it is toast. But, you might post pics here; we might be able to give a preliminary diagnosis.
Some Bridgestones are very nice, so I would recommend at least looking into saving it.

sorry for the lack of posting -- but i actually took it to a shop, and they basically said it was a bit of a hopeless job. I could continue looking for a new fork, but i think with buying new rims and replacign the front tire, this could just become pricy for a 60$ bike. I have been wanting to upgrade, and spied a nishiki olympic tri a going for about 350. Good price? or should i pick up an old canyon that someones giving away for about 60$ *but this bike needs some TLC
